I love Aldi. It has been a family favorite for decades. My Stepfather went to school with the owner when they started it in their garage in Germany.

Blends are not inferior, they are blended to taste a certain way consistently (ex: foldgers). That minimizes taste variations from different farms, regions, growing seasons, climate/weather, harvest timelines, etc. and protects against shortages from any one area having a bad crop.

I’m a coffee roaster. Single origin is great IF you want to taste only one region’s flavors. However, some roasters mix intentionally to give you a variety of different flavors that actually enhance the cup. Here’s what I mean:

Say you have a very earthy cup of beans. Now perhaps you want a coffee that is both earthy and fruity. So you combine the two and get a rich diversity of flavors that compliment eachother.

As a former barista, I just want to let everyone know that when shopping for coffee ONLY buy the coffee grounds that have the PRODUCTION date listed on the bag. This ensures freshness and it's usually within a 30 day period.. If it only has the expiration date, sellers can have the items on the shelf for up to a year. Most generic brand coffee you see in grocery stores are overstock from their original selling point whether that's online or home store. You will always get it fresher by ordering it directly from the brand, or if it's local. Just food for thought next time you're shopping!

I always buy Honduran organic coffee from Aldi. The quality, taste and price are excellent.!
ps: I wish they would start bringing organic whole bean from Guatemala also

I always buy the Sumatran coffee from Aldi. It's very good. The Midnight blend is good, too.

Honestly I used to be a barista when I was younger and he’s KINDA right alot of blends are low quality but I’ve had blends that named each location and ratio of the beans in the blend listed on the package from very respected high quality companies and they were lovely. It is cool to try out different single origins and see how the locations beans taste different due to environmental factors how they were grown etc but just like how there are whiskey blends that can be fantastic if done properly so can coffee beans.

Over here in the Netherlands they have organic food 'Mama nature' at the Aldi. Good, affordable and they started this trend for supermarkets👏🏻👏🏻And I also Like the fact that they don't excluded eldery costumers from products on sale because they don't use a smartphone. It are these eldery costumers that made Aldi grow to the size what It is today. 42 years ago my mother already send me to Aldi to get groceries. She is 83 years old today and lives 80 meters from an Aldi. 😊

It might be from a good region but you have no idea when it’s been roasted coffee should be rested after roasting for a couple of days then consumed otherwise you won’t be getting the full flavor profile. And don’t even get me started on grinding and brewing methods!
