Activision Blizzard Revolt Over CEO Bobby Kotick Bonus

Activision Blizzard just approved a $154.6 bonus for CEO Bobby Kotick after laying off 190 employees in March of 2021, and 800 employees in 2020. The vote nearly rejected this bonus for the CEO as Robert Kotick has already made plenty as Activision CEO at a time when so many are struggling. The Activision Blizzard CEO will almost assuredly be looking at angry investors as nearly half attempted to reject this gross overpayment.

It's crazy. I'm here working late night at my stressful job trying to earn every dime. Some people just get money thrown at them. I could barely afford a very short vacation. It seems like similar things happens at all places.

Thanks for the video a nice distraction in between caring for people 🙂

Look at Bobby. Look him in the face, look him in the eyes.
That’s the eyes of the man who killed WoW.

I’m hoping Halo and Battlefield really puts a huge dent in the sales of this years CoD title. They’ve gotten away with too much garbage that the common gamer isn’t even aware of.

I swore off buying Activision games once they fired those staff but gave their CEO a big pay rise. Companies don't deserve my money if they treat their staff like second class citizens. And don't even get me started about their shady business practices like they did with crash team racing.

Bobby Kotick, every photo of his, he looks like a villain with a smug smile who would rob even your soul for money if he can. He only cares about money and doesn't have a shred of regard or sympathy towards his employees.

All more ironic as to how Activision was formed by Atari developers on an account of they were mistreated by Atari. The whole situation regarding employees getting fired is sad and pathetic.

Take your time with everything, man. Moving is stressful and I'm sure you have a ton going on. We'll be there.

I can't even remember when I last played an Activision game. But this is sadly not an isolated occurrence, as most CEO's have these privileges, while their employees scrap for pennies basically.

That's the point of big businesses. Make as much money as possible even if it hurts the people working for them. *Cough* amazon *Cough*

The sad truth about publically traded companies. Layoffs stimulate stock value. Investors see layoffs as a strong move. Less payroll more profits. And when the stocks take an initial hike. The CEO gets a bigger bonus.

It is easy to look at Executives getting bigger bonuses after layoffs. And the argument can be made that those bonuses could have paid for the lost salaries. But on the business side. They look at it as at the time of the layoffs. They needed to make cuts. But after the cuts were made. There was a huge influx of cash because of people investing. Those investments and company valuation increases would never had happened had the layoffs not happened.

*No. I am in no way endorsing the decision to lay off 1000 people. I am only giving the other sides point of view.

Activision has overtaken EA as the scum of the industry. EA has started slowly improving after the failure of Anthem and Activision continues to sink.

Bobby Kotick looks like the leprechaun from that horror movie from the 90s.

If COD doesn't meet its sales objective things will shake within Blizzard Activision.
The're betting their yearly revenue out of a single big game in 2021 which is extremely risky.

It makes me really sad man. In his 1 year of bonuses he could have kept those employees working for several years. "As the rich get richer, the poor get poorer"

Legitimately thought the caption read "why people don't like kotaku" and was like, man, this is going to be a long video
