Ohio State's 41-20 win over Tulsa on Saturday inside Ohio Stadium was... unusual. Yes, the Buckeyes beat the Golden Hurricane by three touchdowns, but the game was very close into the fourth quarter. And a lot of the things the Buckeyes did well a week ago against Oregon seemingly fell apart on Saturday, while places they struggled against the Ducks were suddenly far better.

What can you take away from the game? Buckeye Scoop's Kevin Noon joins host Tom Orr to break down the good news and bad news for Ohio State fans.

- Serious concerns about CJ Stroud's shoulder
- TreVeyon Henderson's record-breaking day
- Signs that Matt Barnes could be the answer calling plays on defense
- More struggles in pass defense
- Plus much more

The DL needs to step up. They haven't been disruptive enough.

Buckeye living in Tulsa here, nephew was a lineman in 2012-2014 for Tulsa. Our Buckeye pride won’t let us admit that there are teams that wont lay down at the utterance of the words, The Ohio State Buckeyes. Every team is going to try to pick us off and give us their best at kickoff. That being said, Tulsa played a better game than they normally do and we are having our struggles this year for whatever reason. Hence we only won by twenty points and are calling for the firing of everybody in the program. It’s embarrassing. Maybe a John Cooper, or an Earl Bruce would quiet the faithful? Saturday, I saw the beginning of a foundation of play on defense that needs to be refined and was much more aggressive. I see a timid, unemotional kid quarterback that has followed one of the best quarterbacks in TOSU history. It’s asking a lot of anybody. A lot is being made of Ewers that has played one year less football than anyone on the team as the second coming. Seriously this won’t be our year for the Natty, maybe not even for a big ten championship. I choose to wear my Buckeye gear proudly and deal with the likes of Sooners and Cowboys fans who smell blood in the water all the way to Columbus. I choose to not be the reason that a high school junior decides not to come to Columbus because of fan attitudes. I won’t tear down my team. I am a proud Buckeye living in Oklahoma taking a lot of good natured abuse but it’s all good. I choose to act in a way that represents my team at the highest level. O-H I-O

I will never...ever...ever in my life understand why playing the #2 QB is the end of the world for the current starter? For pete's sake we have played 48 LB's and tried numersous safeties, and yet with an incredible QB room Day will refuse to play anyone else.
You are not "giving up" on Stroud if you just give some guys a few drives here and there...if for nothing else but to prevent these guys from all transfering!!! I think giving McCord a few drives, against an inferior opponent, is something we have to do. It isn't saying Stroud is done, but just like every other position, if you aren't playing great, you need to EARN your spot! Let's take a look at the other guys

My God that LT on Tulsa held the whole game and only got flagged twice.

Chemistry is an issue but good God why are you playing an injured QB? If he's injured and not 100% sit him and let him rest!

Ohio State looked even WORSE vs Tulsa! With those returned Top WRs / RBs we should be scoring 60+ on good teams and way over on the others!

Who is the current "Joe Burrow" sitting on the bench who will remain overlooked while the so-called 5-stars grow up?

Tommy Eichenberg is 100% a liability. I never thought I’d see someone worse than Tuf Borland

pleased to see Cam Martinez getting some key reps, showing his speed/quickness and key plays (tipped pass, int for TD)

This team lacks on-field leadership, and chemistry.

Yes, Stroud is young, yes he is going to make some mistakes. Thats not what is making many of us cringe. It's the exact opposite of Henderson. Henderson has that " wow " factor. He has made mistakes. However, it's clear this guy is going to be a superstar. Clearly an exceptional talent and the other players know it. That builds team confidence. Stroud seems to be a very average QB. He dose not electrify the team. He does not inspire confidence. Something great is not about to happen every time he touches the ball. Nothing personal, I don't hate the guy. But it's clear the team believes he is not their best option. The defence is another storyline, but they are very much aware as well...He shouldn't be in if he is hurt. But his shoulder is not making bad decisions consistently.

One of the most frustrating games I've watched in some time. CJ didn't do himself any favors with that performance. Yeah, it's been 3 games, but I've watched enough football to see that player just doesn't have it. He's too inconsistent, too timid, and lacks that juice. We all remember bitching at Urban that he continued to roll out Barrett and keeping Burrow on the bech and we all know what happened after that.

I saw some glimpses on defense that they can build on. But for the love of god bench Shaw and Eichenburg!

The biggest issue I see with this team is there's no leadership, they don't have a Cooper or Barrett. The older players aren't stepping it up especially on the defense front four. I do worry that Day is starting to lose the locker room, because that can sink a program in a hurry. If Day is going to ride with CJ, I can see two more losses.

One more question - #21 LB makes a big play on the goal line area - then I never saw him again. Why??

McCord needs to play. If he plays, I doubt he gives the job up. Stroud isn’t good enough to start yet. He needs more time or to transfer to a lesser team.

If Saban (or even Harbaugh) were coaching this team, Stroud would be on the bench. We might never know if the Buckeyes would be better with McCord.

Will the offense start to use multiple tightend sets? Maybe 5wr at times to get talent on the field?

What change was made with the defense? You took Coombs who was calling the plays put him in the booth and took away his play calling. You had Barnes in the booth not calling the plays bring him down to the field and let him call the plays🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️. This made zero sense. The advantage of the booth is to allow the coordinators to see everything because you can't see it all on the field
