Better than the average DIY video. You didn't rush through it. The movements were slow enough to follow it without having to go back. Thanks.

Pretty sure a pair of washers were part of the standard kit for paratroopers in WWII. Literally dozens of uses but this is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen.

You did such an amazing job clearly and concisely showing how you put the cable through the washers and how to tie the knot. Great work!

I too can tie a taut line hitch but for those who can't, this is a viable alternative. The poster has taken the time and trouble to post this. If it helps someone who can't remember how to tie a TLH then that's great. The other alternative is to buy commercially available guy line tensioners which tend to cost a lot more than 2 washers.

You could tie a Taut Line Hitch or Trucker's Hitch, and all you'd need is the rope - just dispense with the washers.

When I worked at caterpillar, we had to tie giant tarps over the engines to be shipped by rail. I learned how to make this rig using only rope. This knowledge has come in _very_ handy when strapping loads down to anything when I don't have my tie straps with me. People always ask me if it's tight, and will it hold. It always is, and always does.

Man!! I thought I was the ONLY one that did this! I love when guys look at it and are amazed that they never thought to do this! It was a trick my Grandfather taught me, so to be honest, “I” wasn’t the only one, but still. LOL

There are teachers... And there are good teachers... You, my friend, didn't have to say a word in a two minutes videos to be one of the good ones, awesome video.

FINALLY! Someone who can take it slow and show closeups of how to actually make a knot. Thank you, you wouldn't believe how many times I've tried to learn to tie something, and they just rush through saying something like do a simple chicken bone tie here--wtf!! lol.

Great idea, I would just suggest sending down the rough edges of the washers.

I have used nothing but the tautline hitch for the last 60+ years. Simple to tie, easy to use, never fails, does not rust, weighs nothing will not chafe line in a windstorm. You don't need more gadgets to carry around. Use what you already have. People figured this out a long time ago.

The effort people will go through to avoid tying a knot continually amazes me.

I love the clear demonstration.

Would be awesome to share application of the system, properties and limitations, like how someone mentioned the washers could easily shear the rope.

Honestly seems fun, but impractical.
I could be wrong though.
Thanks for expanding my knowledge anyways.

Oh, I like that scaffold knot. I usually tie something that people would call a noose, but I dig this knot. Thank you

I am a knot fanatic. This IS a wonderful, wonderful addition to my knowledge. SUPER video. Thank you so much! ( Not a lot of B/S before showing the knot workings.Right to the point.) Thank You!

Great video, your demonstration is perfect, the way you tied that knot looked like the way a paper manual shows them in diagrams, clear direction and a nearly impercievable yet effective momentary pause while changing grip or direction. The washer system is very cool but im more impressed by the video making skills, this guy really understands how to make a great video. Great work buddy 👍👻👾🐸

I have climbing rated rings set up like this on my Hennessy hammock. Every year, the first time I pull it out, I have to try and remember how it works lol
