My mom used to say... most marriages back in the 50s 60s or 70s used to happen at homes or in people's backyard. Mandap used to be in the backyard as well. People used to even cook at home for the guests.. like the Auntys uncle's and all relatives.. Richer people could book a hall.. even then it was very private.

I think normal people are following these extravagant examples set by celebrities and weddings are becoming more about the photos than they were ever before. Some of my relatives recently got married and the number of times the rituals were interrupted to pose for photos made the entire wedding feel very staged and less organic.

I mean, your wedding is a dream day. But think of the unnecessary expenses you will do. All the money that was saved from years will be spent within a week. It creates pressure for middle-class families and has now become a trend where the family suffers a lot. Especially some parents have to take loans so that they can fulfill their child's fantasy, If you want to have a big wedding then have it on your money just don't bother your parents they've done enough for you!
P.S. your relatives will still point out bad things about your big fat wedding.

I like aesthetics in society, can question traditions, culture etc but not resource control, progressive propaganda etc I get sustainability etc don't allow for that always but still we should be United and researchers, evaluators etc should support us as masses and we should address it.
