so crazy watching this while we’re literally in the middle of a pandemic. “if something like this spreads around the world, we’re just not ready to fight it.” clearly

How upsetting is it that despite repeated warnings in the past years by the health organisations and officials, governments did not formalize an action plan. Nor did they invested as much in research as they should have. What a pity.

I had never heard of Ebola until the movie, Outbreak, debuted in 1995. I will never forget the scene in the movie theater.

2019, "if there's a virus like this that spreads so quickly we can't handle it"
2020, "COVID-19 hits the world"

There's a book called level 4; virus hunters of the CDC and it's basically the biography of the main cdc scientists in this outbreak. It's a great read.

Highly transmissible = Lower mortality
Less transmissible = higher mortality

Not always, but most of the time.

This event was the basis of the book, "Hot Zone". Which, was the inspiration behind the movie, "Outbreak."

refreshing to determine that the impacts of the outbreak were confined to the Congo region.

At least these people didn't complain about helping like they do now, always looking for recognition for a field they chose
