I am going to thoroughly miss having the Maverick around. Alissa is indifferent.

Gosh this truck is so cool. I love the looks, the interior, everything about it. Probably my favorite thing is it breaks the glass ceiling for small trucks and hopefully this truck doing well will mean more small trucks coming in future years from other manufacturers

Welcome to Southern California! Sounds like you’ll be taking advantage of our diverse outdoor activities. Where else can you go mountain biking, skiing, boogie boarding, long boarding, and surfing all in the same day every winter? Glad you found a good route to do the mileage videos. Looking forward to many more comprehensive videos in the great state of California.

i want one so bad it’s simple and gets the job done but still modern. i am in a 24 GMC CANYON and it’s been so good to me but i just grew to dislike a lot of the technology and oddly missed having a key, had it for my 4runner . but i don’t ever really USE it as a truck i do like being lifted and having space for the dogs crates if i travel also really need a e-sliding back window

Mine had the same problem.... they replaced the turbo because of a low boost and it was the waste gate position sensor or something like that. It's running good now but the new turbo waste gate push rod rattles. Sounds weird. I'm thinking of giving it maybe a couple more months and trading it in.

I love my XLT Maverick Hybrid, with Luxury Package and 360 CoPilot. Getting 40-50 MPG all the time except on Superhighway above 65 MPH where I get 36-38 MPG. Have now on order a Maverick Lariat which is the only way you can get Adaptive Cruise Control.

I would have asked if the new part corrects this issue or if you would be facing this issue again later.

Having owned a Toyota Tundra and Ford F-150, (towing travel trailers) my plans are to only hold onto my 2023 Maverick for about three years. We sold our travel trailer last year. The Maverick is our "transition pickup" as we wait for the full-size electric (or hybrid) trucks to get in full swing and decide what type of travel trailer will fit our lifestyle better (are we going to do just vacation trips or do we want something larger than we can live in for a few months). I wouldn't let just one issue with your Maverick be the trigger for you to sell the the vehicle. I've done things similar in the past and really regretted not putting more faith that the mechanics fixed the vehicle "like new". Lots of money is lost with that type of thinking.

That wastegate is probably controlled by some electronics. Most likely some small part of that bunch of sparky junk got too hot from the constant load on the turbo and the smoke escaped from it. Wastegate most likely fails open. So all exhaust goes past the turbo and you get no intake pressurization. You are now down to a normally aspirated 2 liter which is not going to pull the near 9000 pounds on the road. That is the equivalent of a higher end V Twin motorcycle.

Charlie, Thanks for sharing this painful misadventure. It looks like the clock struck midnight on your Cinderella faux pickup from Ford.

Since i don't know how long they have used this engine, or in other models. Could this be the normal issue of first year model issue?

Let’s have a moment of silence for having to move to California…Been there, done that, never again.

Hey -- Im just about to get my first maverick and i'm very excited. Thanks for all these videos. I'm wondering if you could tell me the phone holder you are using for the cubby space. Thanks!

That's pretty disappointing Ford can't even make a turbo last 20k. I was interested in one of these but I decided to hold off for a year or two until they work out some of the kinks.

If you get the Eco Boost 2.0 L engine on the Maverick, you need to clean your valves every 10K to 12K miles. This is because there is no injector above the valve as in a typical fuel injected engine. This is contributing to the waste gate failures. Eventually, you will likely blow up the turbocharger as well, if you don't run valve clean your valves regularly. If you wait for the buildup to accumulate and then try to clean the valves, it will likely get into your engine and turbocharger and cause damage. Ford doesn't care about their customers and fails to own up to this problem or suggest cleaning in the owner's manual. They would perfer you buy a new car about every 5 years.

When you say you purchase vehicles, do you buy them outright or finance and trade in? I've only ever leased (since our first car nearly 2 years ago)
