Why are sin, cos and tan called sin, cos and tan?

Where do the names of the trig functions come from? This video explains where the terms sine, tangent, and secant come from, and how they relate to the geometry of the unit circle. It also explains the origins of name cosine, cotangent and cosecant, and why the inverse functions are called arc functions.
