Good video, although it makes it seem as if Simo was countersniped when he was really shot by a random infantryman who was retreating downhill and spun around to shoot a couple of times to cover his retreat. Simo was not in his sniping position at the time, he was chasing the retreating Soviets with the other Finns, when "some 20 meters away" one of the retreating Soviets turned around to shoot in Simo's direction. Simo was hit, he lost consciousness and apparently almost drowned in his own blood until he was turned on his side by a fellow Finnish soldier and then carried away by medics. This is how Simo himself and the other soldiers from the assault recall the events anyway. Simo was definitely not sniped just...shot while he was sprinting downhill.

Häyha didn't want to continue into the continuation war. Not because of his injuries, but because he didn't want to invade another man's land the way his own was.
He carried on hunting for the rest of his life, so he still had a great ability to shoot.
He was a very humble and modest guy, at least from what i've listened to and read

Tiny bit of correction. Häyhä didn't personally ask to be in Continuation war. As far as he thought his war was over. He was considered, but because of his injury he was relieved by the military command before anyone asked him personally. I wouldn't be surprised if he said yes if asked or told to go back in. That's actually a weird thing as we pulled up all the Winter War veterans in the end days of Continuation War. If Häyhä wanted to go back he would have been cleared for duty pretty much straight away
