Is Squid Game based on a true story? These photos went viral and people think they're proof of similar real life games that took place in South Korea. However, some of them are photos of the infamous Brothers Home - a place where the government locked up homeless people with a lot of them losing their lifes. They were not forced to play any games. It's not known for this case to have inspired the creators of the show and the other photos with pink environment are AI-generated.

Squid game is fictional but it was inspired by the real economic crisis of Korea. The original creator was in debt at one point and while being broke he saw the unfairness of the positions in the economy and he wanted to show the desperation and the lengths people would go through for money. So yeah squid game is fake but the problem is real
