Lawmakers have adjourned after a third day of a political stalemate at the U.S. House of Representatives, which has not taken this long to elect a speaker since before the American Civil War.

The deadlock does not seem close to ending anytime soon, as Republican Kevin McCarthy has been unable to acquire the votes he needs to be elected.

Global's Jackson Proskow explains why the drawn-out process could be problematic for Washington, D.C.

I love how the media brands good disagreement as chaos. They believe handing the gavel to the same swamp creatures is the norm. It's the people's house.

Global, could you possibly demonstrate partisan hackery anymore than in this video? Imagine referring to government gridlock, a feature built in by design, as embarrassing or dysfunction. "Pssst, excuse me, your biases are showing."

Perhaps if journalists explained what was really going on they would not need to resort to the term chaos.

How is this joke of a nation going to decide a president in 22 months when they can’t even agree on a house speaker nominee 😂

Democracy is not humiliating.
Just because he was groomed by his senior advisor McCarthy has followed the steps of Pence and McConnell.
Enough said there.
Jim Jordan is an enigma's conundrum. As Matt Geatz nomination as House Speaker would have sealed Jim Jorden's success...instead Mr. Jordan nominated Kevin McCarthy.
If this was a chess game I'd say this game was 'rooked' and the board was sacrificed in a power play.

Well… when you elect populist instead of politicians, expect dysfunction and division.
