Interesting design! My biggest problem (and I'm a rank beginner) with openers has been the use of the drift in opening the large hole. Keeping the material even all around and not getting it too stretched out is tricky. Rolling a long taper like you've shown is an interesting way around drifting a large hole through not much material. Definitely going to give it a go. Kudos for promoting another smith's channel! Good on you, and I've subbed to Penny to get a fellow beginner's view on design and creation.
