You wear a face mask when working with radioactive substances for a reason: to limit temptation because it tastes way too good! ... Nah it's so that radioactivity doesn't get stuck inside your body, which would be way worse than touching it.

Like all things mysterious, uranium tastes just like chicken. If chicken were a heavy metal.

Please note that even if you go for one of the non radio active isotopes uranium is still a heavy metal, you really shouldn't eat it!

I watched a video about a guy who worked in Chernobyl or at least visited the site. I recall he said something about the air having a metallic flavor.

Fun fact: The word that means "taste" in Standard German ("schmecken") means "smell" in Swiss German (and other Alemannic) dialects. So apparently, once a Swiss medical expert gave a lecture about urine tests in Austria (in German) and kept saying things such as: "Sometimes, the taste of the urine sample alone ("wie die Urinprobe schmeckt") gives you a clue as to what is wrong with the patient." Everybody was shocked and a colleague of his then took the floor to tell the medical students that, no, they should not drink their sick patients' urine. And the Swiss professor was like: "What?! Drink urine? I never said that. I just said you should pay attention to what the patient's urine tastes (he meant: smells) like."

You can eat uranium and be fine actually. Uranium oxide is insoluble in water and resistant to stomach acid so it just goes right through and isnt absorbed by your body. Doesnt mean that it deals no damage, but it wouldnt be as bad as youd think

Іt is a good question. Metal ions has very different taste. Berillium is more toxic than U and we know that Be2+ taste like sugar. Question is not about metal. Due to very big UO22+ ion size probably it will not have strong taste

OK but what about plutonium? Which do you think tastes better?

In order for something to have a taste, it needs to be an organic molecule. Uranium is not an organic molecule, so it does not have a taste. If you taste a chunk of uranium, any taste you perceive is likely due to contamination on its surface

There are many many things that have a "taste" among it's known properties that really really shouldn't. Early Chemists tasted everything.

Can be tasted and was done in the past (USA) by a scientist. Uranium is not soluble in water or hcl so trying it should not be too bad

Copper and steel have different taste.
