So many people waste so many years of their lives waiting for someone else to rescue them or provide a pain free path. I was the fairly intelligent first born son of caring parents that told me I was something special and made my early life very easy. When I got my degree and entered the professional world, it was a rude awakening when nobody recognized my genius just for being me. Probably the most important lesson of my life was figuring out that I wasn’t all that special. Once I realized that, I could then focus on something besides myself.

I realised this when becoming a father of my first son. It took a while to experience what you're explaining, it feels like a huge panic attack when you realise you are the only one who is going to save you.

The only things others can provide is the occasional helping hand to get you back to a place where you are self-sufficient. Anything more than that, and you're making other people give up their lives for yours... And no one can do that without it slowly eating them alive.

Everyone struggles under the weight of their own individual burdens... Don't expect others to carry your weight as well their own.
