It was September 11th, 2020. Billy and I are both first responders. To help clear our minds we decided to go crabbing. The crabs ran good in 2020. So that's one positive I can take from it. We had a blast this day. We ran 18 crab traps with chicken necks as bait. We caught just shy of a bushel. In this video we show how to eat them! As for September 11th, NEVER FORGET!

Excellent, finally a crab pickin video from someone that knows what their doing. So tired of watching "experts" butcher them and toss the legs aside and state not enough meat to bother with. Been catching cooking and eating them for over sixty years and hate to see someone waste any of that delicious meat.

Grew up catching, cooking, and eating blue crabs just like this. Eating them with family is a big part of the experience.

Baltimore crab picking! Doing it since 1964 with my Mon, Dad and brothers. Dad would get live crabs from Jones Creek watermen, then steam with ground mustard powder, black pepper and rock salt (no Old Bay!). Orioles on the radio or B&W TV (Brooks Robinson era), quarts of Natty Boh (from which I'd steal sips when Mom wasn't looking), down in the basement with fans, no AC then. Later would come Mannix on TV!

I spent part of my childhood, living in a small town near Baltimore. I used to love when my dad would bring home crabs. We'd sit outside, on the picnic table and have a feast. Everyone would talk and it was more of a social event than a meal. People always tell me that picking crabs is too much work for the amount of meat you get from them. I tell them, it's more about the experience and interacting with friends and relatives, than it is about eating a lot of meat...and with that experience, you get to eat one of the most delicious things available!👍🙂

Grew up visiting my grandparents in Delaware where we caught and steamed our own crabs. My cousins and I were picking blue crabs from a very early age, it is a work of art.
Those are fantastic memories and I love blue crabs to this day, picking and eating them with good friends and family is a time honored ritual.
Great video. I’m looking forward to picking up a dozen tomorrow, can’t wait!

The day before I graduated college, a MD guy’s parent brought up a bunch of blue crab & steamed them. I got this same instruction from them. I had 2 & went on my way. Pre-gaming for the graduation eve, I was at my friends’ place. Despite a shower, the cat wouldn’t leave me alone. Thanks for bringing back good memories. 👍

Thank you. There are people like me who never learned how to properly eat a crab so I stayed away from them and stuck to eating crab legs only. Also you have a beautiful cat.

These little fellas give their all to provide sustenance for our nourishment, the least we can do is make sure nothing is wasted. I'm on point and will not disappoint!

Thanks for the taste at the end. My wife and I lived in Washington state for awhile. We would go down to the bay and catch Dungeness Crabs along with Rock Crabs. Wonderful times and good eating. I miss doing that.

This is the best vid of crab eating that I've seen. I am a Baltimore Boy, Born and Bred. In my sphere of influence, we generally figure six crabs per person. In my family I am the "Mustard Eater!" If anyone doesn't want to eat the claws, I use them for my next pot of Maryland Style Crab soup, along with another can (1 pound) of good crab meat. Not cheap anymore, but I am sure glad that my Dad got me hooked on this delicacy back when large crabs were $8 a dozen. Yep, I am that old!

Making me mouth water! I grew up on Long Island, NY, stuck in Missouri. Your MHD videos with the cooking of crabs, soups and fish are not doing very much for my mental health! Last good Blue Crabs I had was when I was stationed at FT. Monroe, Va. on the Chesapeake in 84 caught them and cooked beer and Old Bay. I've had some wanna be crab in Florida, yuck! I'd like to get over there this year to get a belly full when they fattin up! Be good, have fun! Thanks for sharing you knowledge!
