I got into fingertyle and ended up taking classical lessons and I was taught to have the fingers straight it’s tricky to begin with but worth it in my personal opinion ofc each to their own keep up the good work🙏🏻

idk man i don't hold my pinky on the board. it just stays with all the fingers, except when i sometimes put it on the first string when it's not used

Dang, kinda taught myself fingerstyle guitar based around what I picked up learning scruggs style banjo-now I have to check my form- thanks for the tip, I'm sure there is SO much room for improvement lol

Do I need nails for start fingerstyle?

First of all. Don't show people to make chords right away. Start with getting use to finger picking strings without thinking of chords at first.
