How far should my lights be from my seedlings

You’ve got to keep two goals in mind: the amount of light you're giving seedlings, and the coverage of light that you’re giving seedlings.

I’m using 2 4 ft 40W=260W 4500 lumens, 5000 day light for my grow lights. How far above do you think I need to place my light above my seedlings?

If I take my meter to measure the umol do I place it at the top of the plant to get my reading. Should I turn down my LED to a 150 reading while it is high and do this or should I move it right on the plant and lower the LED power so I achieve the same 150. I am just learning so excuse my lack of knowledge on this. I am using a Volt fl-1 in a 4x4 tent

Hey. I get confused by a lot of these things. Water quality is more my field. I have a sansi 70w hanging daylight spectrum light. They recommend 120cm from the seedling canopy but that may not apply to my hot pepper seedlings. I dont have a par meter but I measured about 1700 lux with a phone app at roughly 40" (I cant go any higher). I had it about 16" from my seedlings at first but the tips of the baby leaves started kinda bleaching in some areas, having brown spots and crinkling in others and they mostly all had the tips pointing up like they were trying to shade themselves. I know the idea is to get as close as possible and this light doesn't give off a ton of heat however I'm not sure if the recommended height is too far or not.

I have the 1800w COB LED Full Spectrum Sunlight Over My Seedlings. I assume 8-12 inches above be correct? And how many hours a day would u keep light On? I just have the 72 pod greenhouse with super hot pepper seeds growing

You can’t say that just depending on what kind of bulb you have you can hang at a certain height it’s completely based on lumens and there should be a chart with the lumens of the bulb and how many inches above the plant you should hang it this is not correct and it’s not helpful

Are the specs for seedlings, established plant growth, or flowering growth?

As soon as the seedlings brake the soil shouldn’t the lights be within an inch or two until the seeds start to form leaves?

Hey, thanks for the video! It was helpful but I'm still not completely certain about my vegetable seedlings. I have LED grow lights and I am growing vegetable seedlings. I noticed that my 5-day-old tomato and pepper seedlings are yellowing at the tips, and I'm wondering if it's because I had the light too close to them. I had them at 6 in and now have moved them to 8. I have a lux meter and the intensity is spread out pretty evenly. It is at about 7, 000 lux in most spots. I only have one grow light above one tray of seedlings because if I were to attach a second one, they would end up being about 4 in apart which seems like too much light for the area. Do you have any thoughts on this? The manufacturer recommended putting the grow lights 6 in above tomatoes and peppers and 12 in above basil and greens. I guess really I'm just trying to figure out if I'm putting too much light on my tomatoes and peppers or if they need more light. It's really hard to tell!

You can measure Lumens with instrument wich its much cheaper than PAR measure instrument and then convert it to mmol/cm2 by multiply with a facror depend the kind of light ( LED, etc)
