Entrepreneurship is a journey that opens up to those who see an opportunity to do things differently and who are willing to take it! Aida describes how intuition, compassion and resilience are the key character traits common to social entrepreneurs, and why social entrepreneurship is the best way to stimulate growth and trade, particularly in fragile places. She explains how the largely overlooked role of women in agriculture could be a game-changer in the shift from aid to trade in development cooperation. In this talk, Aida inspires her audience with her story of how she founded her company ADS Insight in 2001 and The LadyAgri Impact Investment Hub in 2018, doing what she can to deliver impactful and sustainable investments for future generations and for the planet. Aida Axelsson-Bakri is Ethiopian and Swiss, and is a social-entrepreneur at heart. Since the foundation of her company ADS Insight in 2001 she has been ardently fostering EU partnerships based on genuine dialogue and long-term engagements, aiming for realistic and higher social and environmental standards.
It was this curiosity, passion, and dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs - in terms of lack of policy and lack of funding - that pushed her to co-found her new non-profit association: The LadyAgri Impact Investment Hub, which she believes is the vehicle with which women agricultural entrepreneurs will finally be able to reach their potential and bring quality, security, and jobs to Africa’s food systems.
