My friend Ray use to do that. Instead of calling me by phone, he would think about me and inevitably I'd show up wherever he was. And usually he had something that he needed me to fix or solve. Like locking himself out of his house in the winter, or trees fallen on his house.
Once he was stuck in the hospital and literally no one on earth knew he was there. Until he summoned me this way. However I didn't receive precise instructions, i had to do some tracking and searching until I found him in the hospital.
Unfortunately the last time he went to the hospital was his last. After the funeral i felt his presence for some time. But not so much anymore.
I wish he would have stayed awhile longer.

Just because we can't directly perceive our own subtle body and others' subtle bodies through the five senses doesn't mean they aren't intrinsically connected through an invisible field of energy and vibrations.
I find it strange that rarely do people question the existence of empathy (connection with others through emotions), yet they still often scratch their heads when it comes to things like telepathy, mind reading, sixth sense, gut feelings, hunches, intuition, etc, which is, I guess, understandable, since the mental and spiritual dimensions of reality are much subtler than the emotional dimension.

I do this with my wife, were only 26. I asked my dad if this happens to him with my mom aswell and he said its only gotten "worse" with age. Meaning the connection was even more attuned. Since human brains operate our consciousness through a frequency spectrum, if two people are around eachother enough, they can reach a sort of homeostasis in frequency, making the tiny subconscious voice in the back of your mind the same voice, and then you still have your rational mind talking to itself in front of it, questioning if what it just heard is actually its own thought.

Its strange and hard to explain. But it happens too often for it to be coincidence
