Classification of Patients with Heart Failure by Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (Dr. Greenberg)

Показать описание
Patients with heart failure (HF) are classified according to left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) in clinical practice and in guideline recommendations. This approach may not, however, be the optimal way of categorizing these patients as insights into the epidemiology, pathophysiology and treatment suggest that this approach may now be outmoded. This lecture will describe the rationale for current LVEF based HF classification, summarize the rationale why it is no longer optimal and propose alternative approaches for evaluating and treating patients with HF.
