Well most of the comments here clearly shows people don't know what an oscilating tool is... it is not rotary it doesn't spin just vibrates at very high frequencies making cutting a breeze without applying any force and is very safe to use...

Isn’t there a special knife for that. Like carpet knife the one every worker carries around. Or is this some trend to waste more recourses on a simple task?

I was doin this with regular sheetrock knife, even with straight sharp blade for like 30 years and will tell you all that: it is not a tool it is your straight hand and little brain)))

I worked in the carpet trade for 10 years and i never thought of using those hook blades like that. They are also very good at cutting through skin. I have a massive scar on my left hand from hooking in carpet. At least it was at my own house.

I always like to pull carpet and slice the carpet backing, instead of cutting thru pile.
