One thing I also love about EU Luke is that he also reaches the potential of Anakin in another way. Luke being a father for his son is symbolic, as he has to be the very thing he never had

People think Luke is just powerful due to raw potential but what people fail to understand like Stupendous Wave mentioned in other videos Luke embodied everything it meant to be a Jedi. He was a true avatar of the light. Like is basically Qui Gonn Jinn mixed with the tenacity, hard work, and self discipline of Mace Windu. Anakin would have become astronomically powerful through talent but that’s one factor. For Anakin to evolve into his full potential his personality would have had to take a dramatic shift just like Luke’s. That haughty arrognace, short temper, and fear of loss would have hindered him mastering the higher level light side abilities. Even the ability Force light…one of the most overpowered abilities in Star Wars right behind oneness with the force. Only a few Jedi achieved it. You glowed and it amplified your abilities while simultaneously diminishing the dark side around and in your opponent. Nomi Sun rider knew it and one of the ancient Jedi even used it to purge and entire planet. Sidious was right in that the dark side was a pathway to many unnatural abilities but the light side is extremely finicky you need to have not only a relationship slowly built through meditation with the living force but a deep unflinching trust in it. This is why Qui Gonn seemed like the odd ball around so many so called “Jedi” he embodied what a Jedi filled with light truly is. Funny enough just like Revan’s rule of two hell rebirth the Sith more powerful than ever if after his redemption the Jedi was more receptive to his knowledge he gained through his own enlightenment and even gave him control over Jedi teachings the way of the Jedi years after would have shifted. Revan ages before Luke discovered the deep power of love and how it bolstered one’s connection to the light. The Jedi even though he won treated him with disregard and disdain for his past deeds. Thankfully Luke discovered this in the far future rebuilding the Jedi far greater than it ever was before true avatars of the light unafraid of love and attachment but well knowledge’s in controlling one self in the event of experiencing a loss. Anakin was an ocean of potential but polluted with self doubt, anger, and darkness. The darkside whispered in his ear as a Jedi tempted him with promises making his path as a Jedi shaky at best and the light side was a spark he buried deep within his soul nudging him to reflect on his actions. This mixed with his full alignment with the Sith created a sense of self doubt he never truly got rid of that Sidious even chastised him for on occasion. Anakin was the embodiment of duality and the inner conflict of man and his son embodied what one becomes when they stare into the abyss and does not blink….when an individual goes deep slaying his own demons and emerges like a bright and luminous phoenix out of the dark. Luke conquered his self doubt through confidence in himself and trust in the force, he anchored himself into the present, and allowed love and compassion to guide his actions

I think we need to remove the sequel trilogy from canon (make it Legends) and write new canon stories for Luke, where he has a long career reaching his potential, trains many new Jedi, has many children with Mara Jade.
