A Day In The Life Of A Cancer Patient | Radiation Therapy

A day in the life of a radiation treatment for breast cancer. Delia went through 25 treatments as part of her regime to battle breast cancer. Already having finished chemotherapy, a double mastectomy surgery and an emergency surgery due to an infection, this was the final step of treatment before the waiting period until reconstruction. Radiation was one of the most difficult steps for Delia mentally, even though treatments each session were quick and painless. She describes some of the effects of radiation both physically and mentally and how she was able to remedy some of the side effects caused to the skin and minimize permanent damage.

We take you through all 25 treatments from the beginning to the end. This was a large milestone on the Journey to beating Breast cancer 🤍

Delia’s skin treatment recommendations:

**these are just recommendations and what worked for me. Always consult with your doctor before doing these as you may have a different experience or reaction.**

1) Calendula Cream (worked best for me & was my favorite - I kept this on my skin at all times)

2) 1 oz sweet almond oil
10 drops frankincense
10 drops myrrh
10 drops sandalwood
10 drops helichrysum

I usually mixed this in 4oz bottles. However, now I mix it in 16 oz bottles. I use it still after my shower.
During radiation treatment am, pm, and after each treatment.

3. Aquaphor

4. Lanolin (shown in video)

Suggestions: Get a big oversized black all organic cotton T-shirt. Go about 5 sizes too big and wear this as all of the creams and oils will ruin your clothes. Dedicate a few shirts to switch out during treatment. These shirts will get stained but you can just toss after you’re done with treatment.

I would continue with these skin lotions/creams for 2-4 weeks after finishing if you can. Make sure they are thoroughly rubbed in to the skin in both front & back areas of where the radiation is being treated.

Best of luck warrior sisters!

Xo 🤍

Hi Delia. My stepdaughter was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 27. She went through a lumpectomy, chemo, radiation, hormone therapy, took a pill that put her through early menopause, etc. She not only beat it, but it has been 12 years since her diagnosis. I'm here to tell you that you are going through the storm, but it will look better really soon. Stay strong and don't give up. Stay positive, exercise, eat healthy, it's great for breast cancer. And you what to know one more thing? After everything she put her body through, she was still able to get pregnant. So, just remember, stay positive and be true to your faith. At the end of the day, when someone tells you you can't, look up, because a higher power has veto power, and can reverse everything. God bless you and your husband. You got this!

I cried when Delia rang the gong. Congratulations!!! I can truly relate. I am a 7 year one month pancreatic cancer survivor. I was diagnosed at the age of 56 and I thought that was young so to hear a young girl 28? Diagnosed with breast cancer is unbelievable. You are so strong and a real warrior. You are a survivor. Keep fighting and never ever give up. NEGU as we say in the pancreatic cancer community. 💕💕💕

I had 2 lumpectomies, , 28 radiation treatments, and years of Arimidex. Radiation definitely changed the tissue in my breast, but I celebrate 14 years being cancer free in February. I'm 71 and still here enjoying life. :) Praying for you and your family.

God Bless you...I had a double mastectomy 1 month ago. YOU are so brave.
My mother died of breast cancer at 30 in 1973. I'm so glad so much more can be done. Hope your future is glorious and everything you want it to be...

Thankful for the update. During these trying times you should feel supported and not pressured to give updates. You both have enough stress you don't need anymore. Sending strength and well wishes your way. Positive thoughts for you and Dylan. 🇨🇦

So happy you finished the radiation treatments. My sister went thru chemo, surgery and radiation this past year as well. She is now cancer free. She and I flew from the East coast to California and then to Las Vegas for her celebration of being cancer free. We had so much fun.

I’m sorry you’re still going through this. I’ve prayed for you often. My husband has battled cancer for 8 years. We are in the hospital now. I know it’s hard to update on YouTube. I started a small homemaking channel this summer and it was going so well, but we ended up in the hospital 2 weeks ago. I haven’t been able to post from here so it has set my channel back. It’s hard to keep up when things are difficult. Praying for you!

She is so young and beautiful and seems so full of life. It seems so unfair that cancer has hurt her. Praying for you and your husband that you make it though this battle ❤️

You rocked it. Thanks for sharing. I had the exact treatment as you. My cancer was in same place. Double mastectomy and radiation therapy as well as chemo. I'm in remission now for almost 4 years this month. Celebrate all the mile stones. Sincerely your fellow survivor.

Guys you look tired and your mental health is number1. You don’t owe anyone an explanation but you are definitely an inspiration to many going through similar experience. Take care and keeping you all in my thoughts. ❤
