Typical Japanese Workday at a Construction Clothing Shop

A Typical Workday at a Japanese construction blue-collar clothing aka workwear speciality shop, MANNEN-YA, in Tokyo’s Shinjuku area and I’m going take you inside of this small Japanese business to show you how they run their shop, earn an honest living and sell their goods. Established in 1969, the shop has been a trusted destination for local construction workers for many years. Now run by the founder’s daughter, the shop continues to be a trusted retailer for the hard working community. In recent years, workwear in Japan has seen tremendous growth, with a wide variety of styles, colors, and variations in both clothing and accessories. Many major clothing and even tool brands have recognized the industry's potential for profit. This growth can largely be attributed to the fact that workers in Japan's construction industry, many of whom are sole proprietors, are not restricted to basic company uniforms but have the freedom to dress in their own style, as long as they meet safety regulations.

I can’t believe some of these awesome things that Japanese construction workers buy and enjoy is not available in America!! My dad could have benefited from these items before he retired!

OMGosh where has this been my husband's 30 years as a roofer??? Here it's so hard to find clothing dedicated just for the trades. Not to mention I would love to have seen him look a little more pulled together for work. Thanks Paulo for showcasing another small business owner serving the community!

I bought an AC vest there today because of this video! The staff were very friendly and helpful. I’m a Swedish gardener on holiday. Looking forward to trying the vest next summer!

11:29 I see loads of linemen using this type of sun visor brim for their hard hats in New York.

I really like seeing everyday people working it’s nice that different languages and differences in culture can still make you feel connected to people from around the world

I always admire everyone's punctuality and ability to be an early bird and get up and go! I've been stuck in the night owl routine for so long that I can't switch back. But I am grateful for everyone who works so hard! Thank you!

It's great for the daughter to keep her parents shop alive. So nice to see the husband supporting right by her side.

Bro, mowing the lawn in the southern regions of US with one of the AC jackets would be amazing, as well as those pants.
My wife works in a factory facility and requires composite shoes to be worn. The fact they have NB, Asics, etc...is absolutely amazing.

I do like that she was given the option of continuing on the legacy of the shop. Her parents didn't seem to expect it or have the stigma that because she's a daughter she cant/shouldn't.
Love to see she has brought in new ideas and passions to her family store.

Summer in Japan is hellish in temperature and humidity. Even air-conditioned clothes couldn't keep up, so I started wearing a cooling vest that uses a Peltier element underneath. It places cooling material on each part of the body.

I once saw somewhere. That the “Nikka Pokka” pants were designed such that if you were on a scaffolding you could tell the direction of the wind!

I like how the owner uses a Mac (marketing/advertising) and her husband uses a Windows (sales).

Everyone is talking about the jacket but I want to talk about the lady owner’s highlighter/dewy face. Hahaha! So nice❤

wow such a stylish couple. they look in their 20's not 40's. she is so hard working and with two small kids, I could see the anxiety of running the business and so much more, on her even with her smiling.
