Here's The Difference Between Debt and Equity Securities
As an investor, these securities are considered ASSETS under investment category,

But on the perspective of the investee, Debt Securities are LIABILITIES while Equity Securities are obviously part of EQUITY/STOCKHOLDERS' EQUITY.
