“Uzumaki” from Uzumaki (Anime Series Original Soundtrack) | Music by Colin Stetson

ABOUT UZUMAKI
An inexplicable tale of dread and darkness, Uzumaki follows the residents of the Japanese village of Kurozu-Cho as their lives are consumed by an enigmatic curse in the form of a spiral.

Born from the unparalleled mind and perspective of mangaka Junji Ito, this beloved horror story has been captivating audiences since it came out in 1998. Now a prestige anime series produced by Adult Swim and Production IG USA, with author Junji Ito’s blessing, this highly anticipated anime adaptation of Uzumaki drags a new generation of fans into a nightmare from which there is no escape.

Composer Colin Stetson delivers a mesmerizing original score that is deeply intertwined with Uzumaki’s haunting narrative of obsession and psychological horror. Utilizing his unique circular breathing technique and layers of woodwinds and strings, Stetson conjures an otherworldly, swirling soundscape that lingers long after the final note.

Co-produced by Adult Swim and Production IG USA, Uzumaki premieres on Adult Swim on Saturday, September 28 at 12:30 AM during the Toonami block, with new episodes available for streaming on Max the day after. New episodes will air weekly on Saturdays in Japanese with English subtitles, with English dub encores on Thursdays at 12:30 AM beginning October 3.

Based on the original graphic novel “UZUMAKI” by Junji ITO published by Shogakukan Inc.

It didn't even occur to me that Colin Stetson's circular breathing technique is what makes him so perfect for a story about spirals

Colin Stetson and Akira Yamaoka really are the backbone of every project they’re involved in.

Just came here from watching Episode 1 of Uzumaki to say, without a shadow of a doubt, the soundtrack (thus far) is somehow the best aspect of the adaptation! Every song fit the tone of the episode perfectly!

there’s not a single other person on the planet who could capture the essence of the spiral in sound like colin stetson can

Colin Stetson was such a good choice. The soundtrack in hereditary is easily the best soundtrack I have ever heard in a horror movie. Intensely beautiful in the most haunting and disturbing way.

The 1st episode was everything we needed honestly, they really did a fantastic job in animating Ito's vision as accurate as possible. 10/10 so far.

What a cool concept album
It’d be perfect for an Uzumaki anime but alas who knows when that’ll happen

So far my biggest worry about this anime is the fact that near the middle of the story is kind of just a bunch of scary disjointed concepts that junji thought would work as individual horror stories. Stories like Medusa, Jack in the box, and the whole arc in the maternity ward might make the story feel a little slow at times. The parts im the most excited for are the 1st and 4th episodes, as that’s where I feel as though the original manga is the most compelling. Super excited for this show regardless because of how good the music is though!!!!

I swear it almost sounds like he has woodwinds smacking keys, blowing no air. Using them as light percussion - before the drums really kick in
