I backup my iPhone to my Mac, so in the past I've plugged my new iPhone into the Mac and let it setup from that backup instead of using iCloud. I've also used the iPhone to iPhone cable connection method as well. Both are very much faster than using local Wi-fi and restore from iCloud.

I am still a little fuzzy one switching my E-sim card going from a 14 PM to a 16 PM i am in Canada so do i have to put my old card in the new phone physically or is it done via E-sim ?

Got the new iPhone 16 pro max and it was a hassle it would not let me migrate for two days. It wouldn’t restore from iCloud. I kept getting error messages. Finally today It went through I never had that problem before. All iOS was up to date was on WiFi battery was good to go everything. Just glad it finally migrated without an error message.

Thanks for this! I've done it a bazillion times but it's always nice to review the process while waiting for my new iPhone to arrive. I especially appreciated the advice to restore from iCloud--which would not have been my instinctive choice--because I needed to get up an running in short order so I would have a functioning iPhone when leaving for an appointment.

Hi Jerry, good video! If you could please help, I have old iphone7 with old IOS version, and now 16 Pro, so can I just start fresh with 16 Pro, and on iphone 7 just backup evecrything to the cloud, and then from iphone 16 Pro login to cloud and download the stuff all without paring the two phones? Also can it transfer the Whatsup files/messages also or I could just put my phone number when opening Whatsup on the new Pro, and then it will restore?
Also, does it need to be connected to wifi in order to upload/download from cloud or it can be regular internet connection?

How much time will it take to restore my data .. that is the process that you talked about at the end of the video, like downloading the apps and downloading the photos from icloud, everything .. how much time will it take and what should i do in that period of time ? Anything required to be done by my side ?

Curios, have you tried the wired migration. Direct cable connection between phones. I am reading that it is the absolute fastest. Going to try it when my iPhone 16 Pro arrives, later today?
