I don't get these criticisms.  First, why complain about the shape not changing?  You need to enclose a rectangular screen, so what other shape would you suggest?  You want it to look like a starfish?  Or what?  Second, why is it a big deal that it's "not that much more advanced than iphone7?  Iphone7 is only a year old.

He said it all in this video. My take : If you own a 7 or 7 plus, no need to upgrade at all . The Iphone 8 or 8 plus are good for anyone coming from the 6 or 6s series or anyone stepping into the apple ecosystem not willing to pay a $1000 for a "prototype IP X"
