I love how Spike said “there is no such thing as overnight success. Work on your craft and put together a body of work”. Great advice Mr.Lee

7 & 10 are my favorites; 7 because my foster mom used to always tell us that no one owes you anything & if you think that, your lights and gas gonna be off and the landlord would kick you out on the street - that's BROOKLYN KNOWLEDGE right there (Spike used to live near me); 10 because everyone should stand up for your work and defend it, be ready to tell the WHY you do what you do or have done what you've done.

GO SPIKE!!!

I have a B.A. in Media from Hunter, a M.A. from N.Y.I.T in Communication Arts and a M.S. In Education from Touro and I will tell you, when I left Hunter and N.Y.I.T. and sent out my resumes to certain television networks and film production companies, I was labeled OVERQUALIFIED. I became a teacher and now I am a director of a day care center. Film and T.V. are still in my blood and before I leave this planet, I will do my art!

Great video! Spike has been and continues to be a powerful voice for the African American Community. I respect his courage to express himself even if it makes people uncomfortable. If anything, it get you to think. His rule No. 7, Attack, Attack, Attack, Attack, resonated most with me. I too am in this for the long haul, and to build a legacy takes time, commitment, hard work, and perseverance through all the obstacles. One must keep evolving and not be afraid to shed their skin to Thank you for the inspiration, you guys are definitely consistent in that arena. Have a great day & much love to the #BelieveTeam
