They aren’t expanding where they should. Some towns have 4 locations real close to each other and where I live the closest ulta is over a hour and a half away that’s way to far for me to buy makeup

I love that they are expanding their vegan cosmetics, I just wish it was easily labeled in the aisles which items are cruelty free, etc so I don’t have to stop and research in the store.

I have been obsessed with Ulta for about 6 years now, and I will say the best part of shopping there is the Ultimate Rewards. I saved up my points for about three years, reaching $131 worth in points and just spent them on a $125 balayage and (and a $10 concealer). My stylist is amazing, and I think I'm in platonic love with her. I highly recommend getting to platinum, it has made saving points really easy, meaning you get more for what you buy, especially if you are strategic. Right now they're having (for platinum members) 3X bonus points offer for everything you buy, and three different 5X bonus points offer that are all brand/theme specific offers. So if I want a MAC lip liner, I would get 8X bonus points, plus the 1.25 I get from being platinum. Just buying one $18 dollar lipliner would give you 346.5 points, which converts to $11 worth of points to spend later. They have this on everything, the only downside is you aren't warned in advance, although my friend (whos diamond status) has stated a few years ago that she gets emails revealing upcoming bonus offers. So if you are frugal like me, I only spend money when I actually need it, and I JUST bought two MAC lip liners, so I really don't need two more (or do I?!)


Seriously, I love the whole place and the people in it. Sephora (especially their rewards program) sucks in comparison.

Just in the past year, I had someone tell me that they did not carry Beauty Bakerie, 10 minutes later I found the entire Beauty Bakerie display by myself.

Before they had the Bare Minerals Foundation Stick, I asked when they thought they would have it. The girl who identified herself as the Bare Minerals "expert" told me there was no such thing. She was pretentious. That was a mistake. I told her there was a foundation stick coming out, I completely understand they did not have it at the time, I just wondered when they would. She proceeded to tell me I was "confused, " if Bare Minerals were coming out with a foundation stick, she would be the first to know. I told her it was in fact real whether she wanted to believe me or not, and they were discontinuing the "serum." She did not even bother to ask anyone, she just treated me like I was a moron. Two weeks later, the serum was gone and the foundation stick was there. I bought it from Sephora, not they don't have their share of dingbats as well.

The last time I was in Ulta, same store, I had two small items, and the same girl asked me 4 times if I needed a bag. I was polite the first two times because she was doing her job. The third, I stared and did not answer her. The fourth she tapped me on the shoulder and using the voice of a little girl told me she was still there with the bag. I said, "I'm fine, just like I was the first three times you asked. I promise" I really should have taken the bag and put my whole two items in it and handed it back to her and walked out.

The ulta I worked at was an absolute shit show. I’ve had customers make a big scene over an expired coupon without letting me explain the website usually has an updated one, another woman stocked up on 16oz shampoos thinking they were on sale and she screamed in my face saying I was wrong after I showed her the sign where it said 8oz. Retail jobs are wild

Love Ulta, my home away from home. I get my Estee Lauder at one of two locations where the product line is available. My closest Ulta just started carrying Chanel Beauty. It has been nice to add Chanel to my collection and there's a few more items on my wish list to purchase.
