Making a Step Stool with Turned Legs

This stool was made from a piece of 8/4 sapele. Though it's not as stable as I would hope, I still wanted to show the process behind making it. I will probably make another one that looks similar but splays the legs for more stability.

This was the first time I've used my lathe in over 2 years so it was fun to get back to turning. Hopefully I can incorporate some turned pieces into my work more often.

Thanks for watching!

Looks nice. We’ve all been there no worries. The other important thing with the splines is to orientate them perpendicular to the grain, so it won’t split the top in half, which you did properly, just thought you should mention it too

Beautiful wood. If you splayed the legs out at 10* in both the x and y planes, it would've gained some stability.
