My Ioniq 5 Has Phantom Bluelink Issues - 4% Battery Drain Overnight!

Who knew that Bluelink had a mind of its own and could start remote climate whenever it feels like it. It's done that 2 times recently, I didn't request either of those 2 times. It also drained my battery 4% overnight in the process.

What else will Bluelink do on its own?

00:52 What are PHANTOM BLUELINK issues?
01:27 No, scheduled charging/preheating was not involved
02:07 It happened TWICE
02:54 The 1st time 4% DRAIN
05:38 The 2nd time
07:26 Proof that I didn't request it
08:36 Here's why this is a HUGE issue #1
09:32 This could drain main battery AND 12V battery

Hey Victor, this is tough, man. I really admire your calmness throughout everything.

Not super related, but I had an issue with the myQ app opening my garage door without me actually doing it. It was upsetting since someone could have easier access to the house with the garage door open, especially if I’m not home. I think the door opener may have been getting someone else’s signal somehow and responding despite my not using the app at all at the time. Of course the myQ app also requires a sign-in so it was unsettling. It hasn’t happened in a while so I’m hoping the company fixed the glitch that was causing it.

I brought my Ioniq5 to the dealer yesterday complaining about having to jumpstart my car twice and to perform the battery condition firmware update. They ended up replacing the starting battery under warranty claiming that their testing says my battery was weak. I don't know if there is a phantom drain on the battery when the car is idle or if Hyundai has been installing defective batteries at the factory but I am glad to get something free.

What a headache and really concerning. I own the same car and have had it since December 2022. Not sure if this is related but noticed the Bluelink app has been much slower to respond and glitchy in February. I’m in the UK though so not sure I it’s using the same servers. Keep us updated and good luck. I had to take my car in last month as it started making a high pitch noise that gets louder the over 60mph (under acceleration)….engineers said they couldn’t hear it!! Has to go back again as they only took it upto 60mph… not very thorough In there checks!!

Sorry for your troubles. Ioniq5 was no.1 in my list.. seems that it is no.2 now.
Question, can we remote start engine without unlocking door ?
And, is it a good idea (are these even necessary) to schedule a 5-minute climate control everyday @ 3AM for 2 reasons :
1. Warm the engine & main battery in cold winter🥶
2. Ensure the 12V🔋 is charged for morning activity

This unbelievable it happen to me a couple days ago. The battery shouldn’t die! I never use bluelink and I came out to a dead car. I had to jump it and it’s now ok but this should be happening for an expensive car like this!

Probably unrelated to your issue but when we had the preconditioning update done they deleted our bluelink account somehow…. When we called Bluelink they told us our vin was assigned to someone else and they couldn’t tell us that persons name or discuss anymore about it because we weren’t the owner of the car in their system…. So I am assuming someone else could have started our car for those couple days…. Dealership insisted that couldn’t happen but they also insisted they couldn’t have caused the issue and didn’t even have the access to have deleted it…. Yet it was deleted at the exact time they did the update.

Now I've had it where I've done the remote climate start and not gotten a confirmation that it started. But it did start with no problems. Then, hours after, I'll get the notifications. Done it several times in the past few months but nothing recently. I'm coming up on a year and just over 12k miles. The other day while I was in the car waiting for my son while he was at Karate, the infotainment screen rebooted and it threw out an error that there was a problem with the lane change assist function. The car was fully on. When we left, the error cleared and the infotainment screen came back up and went right back into android auto. I don't know. There are a lot of glitches with this thing. However, unless something major happens, I'm going to stick with it for the long haul.

I've seen people post screenshots of their app showing a bunch of commands being in a row were performed when they never did anything. But on our SE AWD never had an issue, I charge to 80% and it's always at 79 or 80% whenever the next time I drive it is and it's never done anything it's self. We also have never had any 12V drain issues, I got a bluetooth monitor for it but it stays nearly level around 12.8 to 12.6 the entire time it's turned off.

Overall I'm happy that I traded my 2020 Model Y for the Ioniq 5 but I can't help to think that these issues would never happen with Tesla. I had my 12 volt battery died once and not exactly sure what happened. Honestly little concerned how the Ioniq 5 will hold up long term.

Victor: you can disable the "Hey dummy, your car is unlocked!" message. I did

I've had some notifications that BlueLink did something but it didn't. Not sure what that's all about. I've had the climate start, but I checked the car and it wasn't running. 🤷‍♂️

Funny enough, my Genesis GV60 I have found it unlocked in the mornings sometimes. I have visited my in laws for about 2 weeks and it has not unlocked once. I can only assume there's a bug with phone as key because at home my phone is within 30 feet of my car even though I wouldn't get notification that I unlocked the car. Either that or someone else's key fob is using the same frequency as the fob for my genesis gv60 or something.

I had similar issue with the app spaming my phone with climate controll start successful. Other time the bluelink app would not sign me in, then I have to go start and warm the car manually, I know it's petty. After I had the recall (battery pre conditioning) done, my bluelink issue dissappear but the voice recognition does not work any more which I barely use any ways.

Don’t leave your stuff in the car! Are you wanting the scrotes to break in? No worker I know leaves his tools in his car/van. And leaving your digital card in the card invalidates your insurance
