James, he played it pretty well and very clean. Miranda are good too but James hit hard when he absolutely have no idea what's that song is but still able to play it like a pro.

*Why are people confused about the winner?* Anyone who has even attempted to play violin before should know, clear as day, that the guy who played demonstrated technique far superior than the girl’s. Transitioning immediately into double stops after fast detaché strokes across string crossings requires great skill.

The guy also had sharper intuition when it came to improvisation. While the girl’s playing was reactive and sluggish because she was listening for the chord progressions to guide her next note, the guy could sense the chord progressions and since he stayed true to the pulse, the articulations of the notes had more energy. That’s how a solo for a fast song should be. He has superior technique and better musicianship.
