Ask any orchestral musician and he will probably tell you that Strauss's music is the most dificult to play and conduct. And D.Juan must be on the top of the list with all its complexity. This piece must have been played thousands of times since its creation by hundreds of orchestras but I dare anyone to point out a clearly more revealing, cleaner, tighter than this one. For me, D.Juan is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created, gives me goose bumps everytime I hear it, brings tears to my eyes and, if I'm alone and don't risk beeing interned, I conduct like crazy! When hearing it try to "dive" deep inside that "mass" of sound so perfectly combined and harmonized and every time you will find something, some detail, something important to the whole you never noticed before. A treasure...

Don Juan is - for me - the work where Strauss truly found his own voice and fully stepped out of the Brahmsian world of his previous works and boy did he do it with a bang!

The instruments in this orchestra are all amazingly beautiful. Best selection of special quality instruments put together I've seen in many years

I have listened to this composition so many times. I have also attended a concert in Toronto. I am not expert but i think this is the best performance I have ever heard. I like the passion of this conductor and his "Let's go!"

His music evokes so many vivid emotions! He is truly the king of late romanticism.

The two drops of sweat down the conductor’s face at the end says it all!

Just a fabulous piece of music by a genius composer. One of the few where the oboe is given a great solo, and here the guy nailed it. To the novice who has not been exposed to classical music, this should be the introductory work. If he/she is not bowled over, it's never gonna happen
