Sony a7R ii Review for Filmmakers & Hybrid Shooters

I previously reviewed the Sony a7S ii mirrorless camera, which is similar in a lot of ways to the a7Rii, but after using both and breaking down the differences between the two, I think the a7R ii is the superior option.

It is the best all-around camera for both photo and video on the market within it’s price range right now.

In this video review I share what I like most about shooting on Sony mirrorless cameras and breakdown some of the pro features that are included (like zebras, focus peaking, etc.) that should be in similarly priced cameras from Canon.

I also address some of the main complaints about battery life, button options, and confusing menus as well as how to overcome or deal with them.

There is something that most reviewers never mention when generally comparing high-end mirrorless cameras with high-end DSLRs, and it's the average maintenance costs. When you start to have quite some camera bodies around this is definitely something to consider.
Since I switched to Sony A7 cameras (2 A7II, A7RII), I never had to worry about that anymore, and the only things that need to be done I can do myself (cleaning the sensors and the bodies and lenses).

you might want to consider the wireless sony mic systems that work seamlessly with this model. Model URX-PO3, and another system by Sony that allows for two wireless mics simultaneously!

Hi Caleb!! I’m a hybrid shooter and I like to do all kinds of filming and shooting and currently I’m at a stand still on going with the A7sii or the A7rii. The A7r has such great photo quality and that’s what I really want but I also want good low light capability for filming. Do you think that the A7rii would be good enough for some decently low lit areas? If not could you recommend another great hybrid with good low light capabilities. Thanks!!

I have an a7r which I love and use only manual lenses. Apart from 4k - slow motion on 1080p - stabilization are there any real increments in sensor and optical quality

Shoot in crop mode and you will have better image quality, low light and no moire

Friend I have a question, do you know how I can use the Rode NTG3 on my Sony A7R II?
I note that the NTG3 has no voltage. :(

I also have the a7R ii and if I want to choose the records settings it only shows me 50p 50M, 25p 50m and 100p 50M. Do you know how I can fix that? In 4K I only have 25p 100M and 60M

Whats about the A6500 in comparison to the A7RII ? Iam thinking about getting one of these, but iam a little bit scared... Cause A7RII Pictures are huge and i dont got that money for much Harddrives, and iam afraid that the lowlight performance on video is bad :( but on the other hand A6500's pictures are not that crsip... hard decission... can someone help me? :D

shit. I thought this is gonna be diffirent review, at least with comparison of 120fsp 720p at r2 vs 120fps 1080 at s2. Difference in timelapse shooting, ability to crop, eye focus r2 vs s2 and some other stuff since you got both cameras?
