The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has millennia-old roots and has long since arrived in the West. Follow us on the journey through the People's Republic of China and to the people who still practice TCM today. Ranging from family doctors who pass on their knowledge and secret recipes from generation to generation, to acupuncturists who are able to cure chronic illnesses and natural healers whose ancient recipes can make bones grow back together again. All of them are masters of their profession, and their patients travel from all over Southeast Asia to see them. Their traditional healing methods are based on "Qi" - the mysterious, Chinese life force. The search for the source of "Qi" leads us to independet characters and luminaries, who have withstood persecution under Mao and the marketing strategies of western pharmaceutical companies. Our journey reveals a hidden China that is unimpressed by the dazzling facades of the modern world.

I pulled muscle on my back and the whole arm went numb. Doctors told me that it cannot be cured but regular physiotherapy will easy the pain and numbness. Accupuncture solved it in 8 visits - 8 weeks.

So when I was young I wasn't able to walk properly would go to school with a limp on good days but on the worst days I was bed bound or needed to be carried places. My mother had sent me to Harley Street practitioners, Dr's, physiotherapists etc. No one could figure out what was wrong with me, surgeons would have to "operate to investigate" still nothing but the pain was so bad everyday. After the 4th year of this happening a Dr had proposed amputation. My mum believed this was extreme, fortunately my father was working in a pub which had a lot of WW2 veterans who could see me limping all the time. Someone had said to my mum to go see an osteopath that incorporated acupuncture. We were desperate and would try anything at this point. WHEN I SAY THIS CHANGED MY LIFE I MEAN IT. Within 10 mins they solved the problem my spine was extremely out of alignment. I went for 10 Everytime acupuncture was used. I never limped again. Traditional Chinese medicine changed my life and now will always look to this first.

I am glad that I was born in China and had the opportunity to learn more about TCM. Chinese medicine has cured many diseases of family and friends. It gives me so many surprises.

Wow this Documentary unlocked a whole memory from my childhood. When I was around 6 or 7 I had a huge bloated stomach at all times and up to that point had been that way my whole life. My parents couldn't figure it out....doctors said it was lactose intolerance...so my parents made adjustments to my diet and still my stomach was bloated. I remember finally my dad took me to a TCM doctor, really strange when I think back on it as this was not something my dad was likely to do.

I was prescribed two different teas to drink for a month or so. One was during the day which was bad tasting but not horrible and another before bed which was the worst thing I ever tasted. It even had to be refrigerated. I remember bark was one of the ingredients. Anyway, my stomach flattened and I never had that problem again....I need to call my dad and ask him more about that whole experience...

I had 10 sessions of acupuncture to release and heal a frozen shoulder and I did not feel any pain at all when the needles went in. There was a tingling sensation but it was not pain. There was only one point, by my knee, that I had to ask for the needle to be removed. It was not painful but the sensation was very unpleasant. The doctor agreed that it was a very 'strong' point and she removed the needle for me. The rest of the points were in the hand, arm and upper back and they were no problem at all. She also gave me a brisk massage with a special alcohol rub with herbs in and I had to take some herbal pills for a few weeks. The treatment cured the problem.

My TCM doctor is in this video. I found out it was him today when I asked him. He’s dr Yuan, I thought he looked very similar and spoke similar and when he told me he did 20 years at the main Chinese medicine hospital I quickly realised it was him

what a beautiful country China is...i have always admired the ancient beauty of China....i don't why I'm so attracted to Chinese traditional music...it's like a lullaby to my soul, it's like a heavenly mist that comforts my soul and I'm so at peace every time i hear Chinese traditional music, especially the very old or ancient songs...i love those majestic foggy towering mountains...it's like a home to my restless heart and soul...i have always wanted to live on top of a high mountain and touch the clouds and feel the soft sun rays nearer...i wish to live like a hermit or with few people in a community surrounded by vast nature and all the abundance of Mother nature's providence...

I am trained in Chinese medicine, but not nearly as much as the doctors who work in China. I have been to China twice and practiced in three different hospitals. It is amazingly fascinating to see how they work and the result is absolutely fantastic. It is distressing when you meet, e.g. Swedes, who think it's just a placebo, or some other hocus pocus explanation. I mean this is in harmony with nature's healing.

I have a strong reason to say this... I LOVE THEM ALL AND LOVE CHINA AS ITS CULTURE AND TRADITIONS most of which are still kept and practiced today. Why do I say this?... Because I have been living in China since 2012, and my very first city I was Blessed to arrive when I met my beautiful girlfriend, it's the most ancient and beautiful first Capital of China, Luoyang City in Henan Province. As a Chi Gong practitioner, I must say that although the traditional Chinese medical culture may seem a bit metaphysical to some foreigners, it is very effective in solving diseases (especially some diseases that modern medicine cannot solve). Especially Zhan Zhuang, if you meet a good master, the effect of Zhan Zhuang is even stronger than sitting meditation

To understand Chinese medicine, one must understand Chinese culture and where it lives. China's cultural history is unique in the world, which means that it is rare for a non-Chinese to understand the deeper cultural core.
