Reality TV show features notorious New Mexico prison

A new national TV show is about to highlight one of the most dangerous jobs in New Mexico. A&E thought the state pen would make the perfect setting for a reality show about corrections officers.

$14 an hour is good considering minimum wage is $8 an hr. in NM. Plus benefits and raises. I've been in prison meaning I know what guards go through on a daily basis. Not much. 99% of their job is babysitting. They sit or stand up and watch you all day. Once in a blue moon they might have to break up a fight. Riots are rare. Most fights are sanctioned by inmates who run shit so there's not a lot of random fighting going on. Inmates got shit pretty structured so as long as you stay out of their way they'll do the same cause nobody likes c/o's in their business. It's the power trippin c/o's who get there ass whooped or put other c/o's lives in danger. These shows put all the fights and riots from the last couple yrs and combine them into a 1hr show in order to get viewers and reinforce prison stereotypes. I did 11 yrs. Prison is a lot of being locked in your cell, working out, reading books, watching t.v. and figuring out what the fuck you gonna do when you get out. Occasionally you might have to fuck some one up. Respect everybody and you'll be alright.
