Its not a matter of math, its a matter of language, like basically its the ordinal number followed by teen for the teens except the first two, eleven and twelve, an 10 is not say onety, its ten, and for the teens we don’t say ten, followed by whatever the last digit is, like for numbers above 20 but with the multiple of 10, and for multiples of 10, we do not say whatever the first digit is followed by ten like we do for hundred, thousand, million etc. and the teens sound very close to the ty’s (except for twenty), and this is not only true for english but also in many european languages, at least east asian languages have it much simpler and more consistent
