Shaw et al. reveal profound levels of anhedonia in behavioural-variant FTD and semantic dementia, attributable to the degeneration of frontostriatal pleasure circuits in the brain. Anhedonia appears to be distinct from apathy and depression in FTD, and warrants serious consideration as a standalone clinical feature.
