SO. I'll be honest. I don't use youtube to post content so much as I use it to browse stuff, BUT. I figured, people have been saying they like my art and whatnot, so why not let them know what I'm up to?
Video promotion has never been my strong point, let's be real. But anyway!
I'm making a visual novel game!! It's called Court of Fools, and is inspired by games like Danganronpa, Zero Escape, and Your Turn To Die, being of the Death Game genre, though having a more fantasy-based setting.
As of making this video, I wanna say I'm roughly 85% done with the demo?? Finished the script and have handed it off to review for my betas, and I just have to finish up a few more CGs and get to work on the talksprites, which should be less intensive. Once I have all that sorted, it'll be off to plug it all into ren'py!
I don't have an estimate for how long the demo will be in terms of playtime, but the script is roughly 130 pages total (that being said, it is largely script format, so a lot of it is single line dialogue bits, so... yeah). My hope, however, is that it will be at least an hour!
On that note, a brief overview of the plot: You play as Greg, a newly-hired jester in the castle of the Gigglox kingdom. You meet up with all your other coworkers, ready to start your new life as the latest in the questionably large troupe, only to find out... The king has died. Shortly after you spoke with him, even!
Well, of course suspicion falls on you, but before too much blame can be thrown around, everyone gets sent to another dimension, expected to kill each other to try and free a long-trapped evil snake god.
Oh yeah, did I mention there was an evil snake god? Cause there is.
Those are honestly the broadest strokes I can describe it in and it glosses over a lot of finer details, but if that premise alone interests you, maybe keep an eye out for updates?
I run both a twitter and tumblr account for the game, while I also have a discord server for people who support me on ko-fi to be granted instant and direct access to my progress, thought process, and also gain perks like monthly doodle requests and discounts on commissions!
To see more info and a better view of the full cast, head on over to the official social medias for the game!
And if you want to directly support me in working on the game, you can become a Member on my ko-fi for as little as $2 a month!
Your support is greatly appreciated, as all assets for the demo (except music) were done entirely by me, and I even pushed through a couple bad arthritis flare-ups to get stuff done for this. This game has become a big passion project, and probably the biggest thing I've focused on in a long while?
I have big plans for it, too. I already have the basic routes outlined, and if I can get enough support, I would genuinely like to make this a full game. My ideal version would be to have four routes, each encompassing a total of 9 chapters--The demo covers the entirety of chapter one, which is where things start to diverge, so that would be a total of 36 chapters, oh boy!!
Of course... I don't think I'd be able to do that all by myself, heh. It would just be too slow. I'd really like to assemble a team, but I also want to make sure I have the funds to pay them, so drumming up support and interest is a big deal for me right now. It's quite hard being your own PR team ;w;
Anywho, I've rambled on long enough. But thank you for reading this far if you have! Once again, support is greatly appreciated, so let me know what you think!! ^^
