I always blend poorly when using a mechanical pencil too. Blending goes better when you have a thicker smoother lead.

Honestly, never talk about about mechanical pencils. They were the only way I could draw when I still did traditional.
Your artwork is beautiful and you should be so proud of that.

For anyone saying that the blending isnt bad, artists see their art with a lot more imperfections. Also using a mechanical pencil is harder to shade with so its a bit scratchy.

I had a piano teacher once say to me “You know you’re an artist because you make a lot of excuses”, this video is a good example to me of that sort of thing. Artists are incredibly critical of themselves whether it’s from insecurity or they’re afraid of the criticism they’ll get from others so they criticize themselves first
