dont build ai breaking bases, dont watch meta / 'how to break the game' videos on yt. discover the game yourself and you will have fun for a much longer time.

To be honest I think they're on the right path. Bandits + Actual story content will mean the games done (finally).

When it comes to zombie AI, I feel like that's part of the charm of the game. The smarter their AI gets, the less they feel like zombies, and more like just enemy people. Smart AI is something we should expect from Bandits when they come out.

In my opinion the purpose of doing quests should be for the story mainly, which doesn't exist yet.

One option that would be a nice reward for quests is having the Trader stations gain new NPC's as you do quests. First thing when you arrive it's just the one solo trader, as you do more and more quests you get more NPC's that do specific unique tasks.

Such as:
"Bob the Demolisher has moved in. Bob can deconstruct an item and gain all of it's crafting components instead of only select components. For a price. Still cheaper then buying a new one though!"
"Jen's Sister has moved in! Jen's sister offers Doctor services without using consumables and faster results too."
"Billy the Trash Panda Kid has moved in! Billy the Trash Panda trades ammo for junk. What kind of ammo does he have today and what kind of junk does he want? Who knows!"

Each trader could have their own set of NPC's that move in with them, either with unique services for that trader, or even the same services with some NPC's as the same but their final NPC being a unique one to that specific trader.

Like every other Voxel game, including the beloved Minecraft I see this game in it's vanilla version like a starting point, after you play it a few times it becomes routine, however, since they are very easy to mod and there are incredible talented people out there that do just that, do what I have done with Minecraft . . .play modded or play some of the great overhauls like Darkness Falls or War3zuk or District zero and if you find them to easy play on insane difficulty and nightmare speed, limit your biome on the map, don't use vehicles . . .is about options and this game has them in abundance.
I don't think TFP realize what they have made, this game will be still be played ten years from now, and one of the reasons is replay ability and great multiplayer mechanics, is not perfect yet, still many issues with fps if you are in a big city with max zombies enabled, but is not a game breaker. The star of the game is usually the most fun for me, you have nothing and you are just a soft boy nakid in the world with your willie hanging out waiting for a zombie to chomp on you lol. . .go forth and survive.

I think that the zombie AI is already far to clever by half. Zombies are supposed to be dumb and essentially brain less, their threat comes from the shear numbers and lack of self preservation. The problem is that the AI and graphics for each zombie is too resource intensive and so you can't have hundreds or thousands of them in the world at a time anymore. We used to have wandering hordes with a hundred or more zombies on screen at a time, but they did away with that in favor of prettier smarter zombies.

The wasteland cities used to be death traps because the density of zombies was so high that you needed to use guns if you weren't very careful, but using guns would just cause more zombies to home in on you, and with instant respawns you would rapidly start running out of ammunition while faced with 50+ zombies. Just breaking into PoI's to loot them required cleaning up the neighborhood a bit by rounding up the zombies and leading them off somewhere away from your target.

I appreciate that some have this problem, but as a relatively new player I find the balance good between difficulty and rewards. I do not run insane difficulty as I feel this actually is a game breaking option. Unrealistically fast zombies might make it more exciting for some players, but I enjoy clearing a difficult room that has running zombies just as much and actually find it annoying when an impossible number of zombies occupy a small bathroom and come streaming out like clowns out of a small car.
I have played out to day 100 a couple of times, and have experienced boredom acquiring resources for gunpowder and bullets. At that point, I feel it is just time to start again on a new map. Honestly, the first few weeks are the best part of the game I feel.

I post I made on the forums a while ago for 7DtD:
So, I was streaming 7DaysToDie yesterday, again having the thought that we never see any empty Trader Outposts that we can raid/take over. I remember an overhaul mod(don't remember which one) that had some of the older TO's infested with Zeds and spiders...was really cool. No trader protection, fully destructible/lootable, etc.

I had a thought...

The beginning Trader the starter quest sends you to...once you do enough missions for them to give you Opening Trade Routes...Instead of sending you to another Trader, it sends you to an abandoned/infested Trader compound you have to clear. Fully lootable/destructable...at the end of the clear an option pops up...either summon a Random Trader to the location(arrives and sets up shop 7 days later - fully built/repaired - Trader Protection is the POI/Compound size centered on the trader) or claim it as your own(Destroy or repair at discretion. No Trader protection.) Subsequent Opening Trade Routes from the Starter Trader or from newly established Traders does the same quest line...some higher tier(higher tier mission/clear/zone leans to that Trader having/selling higher tier gear, etc.)

I don't have a problem with the game, you can make the game harder, by changing it to nightmare or the other ones, increase horde size to 64 per person. I do find it challenging🙂

Luckily the game has a good mod support and good settings system what not so many games have so we should be grateful for the good modding ability and that the game still has lots of stuff to do.

that's really a "problem" that it gets boring. Minecraft has the same issue, most games with an openworld and where you can do whatever you want.. gets boring after a certain amount of time played. That's just normal.

Just read the 7D2D Roadmap, it’s taken 10 years to get here from a freakin Dream . It’s Replay ability is crazy good, 10/10 rating! It’s not for the mainstream gamer and never will be. Worth every penny and watching it grow is awesome. ✌🏻

This version seems way easier than the older one we had previously on xbox, I think the only reason we kept playing as long as we did on the new one was to try out a lot of the newer items/vehicles to craft.
I mean I've always been a knife guy but this is the first time I've ever had a machete in this game from at least 3 lengthy playthroughs of the older version and once I had that in my hands I felt like a god!

Ammo is another thing that is in abundance. I very rarely used to shoot in the old game as getting ammo wasn't as easy. Mining also didnt yield anywhere near as much as it does now.

Also there were 2 different versions of desert and forest biomes with differing ore underground. The removal of dirt and not having clay patches, no more turds in the toilets for fertiliser. No fertiliser for crops.

Zombies no longer sensing when your carrying meat.

I also kind of miss the wellness system for when you die to loose a chunk of health and stam, until you can raise it again from staying alive and eating good food. I feel this should be an option at least in world settings to give it a bit more difficulty.

Inventory space has increased a lot as well and you no longer have to worry about the weather/temperature

All in all it seems like a dumbed down version of what we had, with extra flashy new items/ electric traps.

No zombie looting is also an odd one. I watched a person play 7 days for the first time recently and they noted that they got nothing from the zombie corpse(which used to be lootable/harvestable) then they came across an animal to kill and only hit it once thinking that was all they would harvest from it. Which confused them when they found out they needed 5 raw meat to make 1 cooked meat.

Even the game difficulty settings doesnt give you a lot to go on anymore being basically if your better at FPS games then choose a higher difficulty. These settings used to change how the zombies behaved/could sense you. Also the games so dam bright now, even in the middle of the night, do you know how freaking scary it was in the old version being pitch black and hearing noises outside at night? So much more intense with the rough graphics and animations combined with the speed of the zombies in the dark of night all added to the horror atmosphere this game thrives on and I feel it kind of lacks this in the current version.

The repulser mod is already locked behind a book you have to search for and hope RNG gives you. The only limiting factor to game enjoyment is your own imagination. If you want more of a challenge tinker with the game settings, add in mods if your on a PC, or create your own challenge rules, like no crafting or you can’t go to the traders. There are tons of things you can do to keep the game interesting if you try.

Bro you're using the easiest most simple horde base possible of course your gonna get bored use you're brain and create you're own ideas for a base and see what works that's half the fun of the game

Questing via the traders is optional, lets keep it that way. We only just got the ability to craft tier 6 gear. Previously the were locked behind RNG ie loot. Been playing this game since Alpha 15. It's in a better place than it's ever been. The main fix the game needs is standard zombies should straight line to any observable person. Only Wights and Demos should be structural engineers.

I don't think it's a problem at all. Maybe try customizing the game settings or giving yourself goals/limits on weapons and such. You're only limited by your imagination in this game. I'm at day 98, level 252 (trying for the Level 300 achievement), and I'm still having a blast switching up fighting styles and my base/horde base/mine. The quest system is alright, I do a couple every so often, mostly when I need to loot a PoI again for Legendary parts. Eventually I plan on having an outpost at each biome and a horde base in the Wasteland, but that's long-term stuff. For now, I am focusing on getting my first base set. The bandits and storyline I guess would be interesting, but I'm okay without it. (zombie apocalypse happened; now survive, what more do you need to know) However I say the loot bags need to be redone for better loot and ammo, etc. By the way this is coming from a Legacy version player, so I'm very happy to be playing this version. I'll probably slow down and see my family again once I get the Travel 1000km, and Level 300 achievements😃

Have you tried increasing the difficulty to Insane difficulty and nightmare speeds? (or visa versa) Or impose restrictions on your self like, the use of one particular weapon only? People have been trying to give the funpimps suggestions for like 10 years.... As i understand it, they aren't afraid to attack and tear down their fans.

I think it'd be neat if the armor was rather clothing and the stats (perk stats or armor stats) were modular (mods) adding these stats and altering the appearance like Vehicle mods do now!

I also think it'd be neat if they added power stations and wired every POI through the hydrolines. You could jack into the grid, repair the grid or you need to restore power at the station when the power goes out prompting a quest from the traders!

It gets a little bit boring when you reach lvl 200 and only get tier6 infested quest, but until then you probably played the game for more than 120 hours. There is an abundance of POIs you have to explore, and many of them are telling strories, a few of them are references to horror movies, and even more offers "easter eggs" like Grace in Bobs Boars and Carls Corn.
I think 7d2d is one of the best survival games you can play at the moment.

I have over 5000 hours in this game and totally agree with the lack of endgame or proper "story" progression.

Darkness Falls Overhaul Mod addressed that by adding a "story" progression where you find and unlock labs/bunkers to find what started the apocalypse and slowly uncover how to destroy the portals to defeat the source, ending in the final bunker with a final portal etc....

7 days to die could implement an overarching story progression and like Minecraft, when completed and the final boss/hive is deafeated, you can keep playing if you want, or have your session game complete and roll credits.

In regards to zombies, I think simpler is better for horde night. Having intelligent zombies we have right now is silly, but A16 had a proper horde, which allowed for proper tower defence fun.

For zombies in a POI for trader quests, I would love to see unique zombies, similar to what you mentioned, to create challenging quest POIs.
