I don't know why everyone is still surprised about scalping. It's always been there, and it's always gonna be there. The PlayStation Pro is an extremely hot item and people are passionate about getting it. Despite complaints on the price online, That clearly only represents a small fraction of the community.

Congrats on everybody who got one. Sony will def continue to produce more Pros for the future. Don't worry if you didn't get one now, you'll get one eventually if you still want one

I was in the second it went live, got put in line for about 30 minutes and the PRO was gone when I got in. I could have bought any other item because they were all still there but I was just there for the 30th Anniversary PRO. Man, it was a rough day for Playstation fans

Also note there have been thousands of people targeting the scalpers eBay sells essentially holding them up for 46 weeks. Because there is an eBay policy if you don't actually have the product in soccer hand you can't list it for that as a result the cells are actually just put on auto hold and he will hold those cells up for a very long time. Even when it says sold it's actually in holding they're not getting the funds

Let's be honest, a device limited to 12.300 worldwide for a community in the size of 60.000.000 million people worldwide is not meant to be used to play games on it - it's a pure collectors item. Scalping is bullshit for standard devices like the normal PS5 Pro. But it's absolutely normal in the collectors world and has been for a long time. I myself luckily managed to get a PS5 Pro 30th anniversary and you can be sure i'll put it on display in my house. Collecting is fun too!

How to fix this.

Scrap the whole 12300 units thing.

Have a brand new period of Period say like in a 3 day period lets call it the (celebration period)

Have absolutely no limit on the amount of units avaliable but only three days to pre-order.
(1 per person still applies)

Everybody who pre-orders it is going to get one, at the end of the the cut off you can't pre-order it anymore and that's as many is is gunna get created.

Then they can stick the number of how many PS5 pros are out there in the wild say a million people bought it you would have 15, 612 out of 1 million on the side of your ps5 pro.


EASY FIX
everybody who gets one and once one and can afford one can get one.

And the limited collectible feel of the items still remains as after the period of period is over that's it they don't come back

it's supposed to be a celebration of 30 years of PlayStation right? So why not let the People Who pre-ordered the console celebrate it and the people that don't pre-order it they don't get it simple as? Once the celebration period aka pre order period is over no more are made.

This is such an easy fix and such a simple concept it honestly pzzes me off

If scalpers wanna pre-order 100, 000 of them in this celebration period let them.

The true fans and the people who actually wanted to pre-order it and get one for themselves already have one and scalpers would literally be wasting their time and money pre ordering thousands with my method of availability.

The people trying to buy the 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro Bundle weren't concerned with the dimished returns performance of the Pro, they wanted it because it was a limited edition collectable that could be flipped on eBay for ridiculous amounts. You conflate multiple topics into one confusing distribe about how bad the Pro is even though you bought one yourself.

Yeah, I don't think the scalpers are going to get six plus thousand dollars for the 30th anniversary Pro consoles. It appears the sold listings are tapering off at around four thousand dollars. And if memory serves me correctly, the initial wave of sold collector consoles like this typically sell high at first but drop a bit in price as time goes on when fomo dies and people lose interest. These consoles may be worth two to three thousand dollars in a few years, which is still a lot of money, but it's not six plus thousand.
