In Portal you can use a Portal to make a rocket launcher shoot itself. You actually get an achievement from the Devs saying “We thought of that.”

I would love a ranking about most complex AI enemies/NPCs that included RainWorld!

The time travellers in Bioshock Infinite are great, they have so many little details that are just so cool. When they ask you to call the coin they flip, they mark their board with Heads. It looks like every time they flip the coin, it comes up heads. But if you look at the coin, it is tails.

They aren't keeping track of the coin result, they're tracking your character, who had called the coin to be heads.

I'm surprised the Fable Demon Door puzzle isn't in this. Fable has a demon door with some stones around that you need to hit that correspond to different letters and you have to decipher his name from the stones. His name is HITS, but if you type in "SHI#" instead, he whispers it and a pack of Balverines (werewolves) spawn to fight you.

My favourite was near the beginning of "Shadow Complex" (2009). Your girlfriend gets kidnapped and you're supposed to infiltrate a secret military base to rescue her - but if you go back to the car that you both arrived in, the game lets you choose to just leave. Our brave "hero" says "Plenty more fish in the sea" and nopes on the whole thing; the credits roll, game over. Evil, but so funny 😄

Actually in the original version of RE4, the boulder you use the dynamite on in there can be blown up with a rocket launcher. I'm thinking the developers were smart enough to remember this and put it in the remake as a result.

I love that the devs for Metroid Dread knew full well that players would figure out how to sequence break the game and get items early, so they threw in some treats like a few extra action scenes and other ways to damage a boss. Very much a dev team that knows their players

One more. In Hades when you meet Charron to buy stuff sometimes there is a large bag of cash off in the background, if you take it like the devs knew you would, you'll piss Charron off and he'll drag you to an arena where you have to fight him, and he is one of the toughest enemies in the game that already has some pretty brutal enemies.

Man Futurama the game was a hidden gem at the time, main reason is me being in love with the show.. This is the first time i've seen it featured on Gameranx and I appreciate it!

In Fallout 4, Codworths is the only NPC that calls you by your name, and the devs included some sillier names, too. Which is super great!

In Portal (the first game), Test Chamber 14 has a way to bypass the entire puzzle. When you enter, there's an elevator platform higher than you can reach. Drop a portal in front of it. Then go up the stairs and turn around; when the stairs retract into the floor, drop the other portal down there and jump in. You'll pop out with enough momentum to get onto the elevator.

The developers' commentary brings this up, stating that during playtesting people figured out this trick -- and they decided that, this far in, they would allow anyone who figured out this bit of ninja action (or just listened to the commentary to be told how).

Seeing Elizabeth in Thumbnail feels so nostalgic. I miss BioShock.

I still think the far cry series giving the player a early ending where the player can just walk away is interesting.

In the original Modern Warfare 2 you are forced to restart after the game detects you intentionally killing friendlies, even if it's General Shepard during the training mission on "S.S.D.D." The case is still the same in the remastered version, but now you get an achievement/trophy titled "Precognitive Paranoia." While we're on this subject, you can also get the "Colonel Sanderson" achievement for killing seven chickens in ten seconds in "The Hornet's Nest" mission.

With the Breath of the Wild ball rolling shrine, I always just angled the whole thing so that the ball would roll off the ledge next to where it drops in, and then go run over to it in person, freeze it in place and then smack it with a hammer and basically turn it into a golf minigame. Way easier to do than even trying to flip the whole thing over.

I remember figuring out I could flip the platforms completely over in the shrines in breath of the wild I felt like a damn genius as I did the puzzle basically standing on my head
