To make up for Ersatz M10, Skorzeny ordered five Panther tanks to be modified into fake M10 Tank Destroyers. The transformation was cosmetic rather than functional. The Panthers were outfitted with sheet metal to mimic the angular shape of the M10’s turret and hull, and painted in U.S. Army olive drab with fake Allied markings. However, despite the attention to detail, several elements betrayed the disguise. The Panther’s distinctive German overlapping road wheels, larger size, and the retention of its muzzle brake—crucial for the 7.5 cm KwK 42 gun—made it difficult to fully replicate the American tank destroyer.

Wow, interesting history, thanks! I didn't know Skorzeny was wounded in that combat. I figured he was at a command post in the rear, not the front line. Bad ass.
