A lot of people don’t understand this but in Mexico we actually do have a different way of thinking of the dead. It’s all about respecting, but we don’t see this museum as something strange since the soul is what matters. What we respect is the soul, and their place of resting.

There are specific things you do to respect the deceased at graveyards, and we have the day of the dead with is all about respecting the people who’s souls have moved on.

Most countries reuse burial spaces after a few years. A crypt or burial plot is rented and when rent stops being paid the space is reused. This is due to space issues and doesn’t generally involve the government.
What happens to the displaced remains varies. The bones may simply be broken up and become part of the soil matrix (ground level of London grave yards are several inches higher than the surrounding area). They may be added to an ossuary (many famous historical ossuaries, but i know this practice continues in Greece). Or the unclaimed bodies may be thrown into a dump (I saw this in Guatemala City).
