Actually the “Horrifying” look is natural as the mouth and eyes tend to open at the moment of death due to the muscles relaxing. Though nowadays at least in the west it’s rarely seen as the mouth and eyes tend to be closed by the mortuary either through stitching, wiring or even glueing in some cases. As having worked in a hospital as security that didn’t have a morgue and had to escort the ME, funeral home workers etc to the room the the patient had died in for retrieval and then embalming or whatever the family had planned. Almost EVERY come to think of it EVERY one had their mouths open most not all had their eyes open too. They can even groan when moved due to air and or gas trapped within the lungs.
