My father was a tyrant like the father in the song. This song has touched me deeply, and has been part of my healing over the years. Sometimes the family that you were born into doesn't provide the love that you need. There are many people out there alone and separated from their families due to domestic violence, differences in lifestyle, religious bigotry, lack of forgiveness, even political views. Sometimes you have to find those lonely people like you and make your own family that will love and support you.

this song always brings me to tears. my dad wrote a letter that I found after he went to prison saying that he was leaving our family and all the kids and my mom. I never thought badly of him before and needless to say it hurt reading that letter more than anything else had. I just wanted him to be proud of me and to love me.

Such an iconic track, and album. Extremely underrated, and filled with emotion. Every track has a story to tell, and that's what makes this album so great. One of my favorite all-time Genesis songs, and one that brings many memories. They'll never be anything like Genesis, or Phil Collins, Truly one of a kind. Been going years listening to this, and it never gets old. Legendary. "No Son Of Mine" A track that is truly iconic, and a great start to the album, and one of Genesis' most legendary hits.

As an abandoned child this song gets me every time. The last conversation I had with my father he told me i was replaced by his adopted kids. Thank God for my own step father who couldn't have kids. Without him I'd likely be in jail or dead. He's gone now I miss him
