Contrary to Popular Belief, CBD Makes Marijuana Stronger

The second most important compound in cannabis is cannabidiol (CBD), and most people will tell you that CBD is the gentle Yin to THCs paranoiac yang. Hence your local ganja barrista reminding you that, if you don’t want all those anxiety-inducing side-effects of THC, grab a strain with a nice CBD balance.

But… is it true? A new study appearing in JAMA Network Open suggests, in fact, that its quite the opposite.

640 mg is crazy for 1 cbd ingestion even ingesting that much CBD alone will induce what some call a mild body buzz I feel like this study needs to be done in a way to represent the normal active marijuana user

Boy, for me, CBD dulls the effects of THC. When I add CBD to my session, edible or dry vape, I don't really get high or buzzed. Just mellow and relaxed.

I think the experiment needs experienced cannabis users as a control group. Individuals inexperienced with cannabis tend to experience the paranoia and anxiety.

I don't believe this. CBD cuts into the THC high and makes less anxiety. Rubbish test.

The best tasting and most euphoric relaxed high ive ever had was from a 90% sativa strain called chocolope, only has approx 24%thc and 0.5% to 1% cbd.

Since everyones body has different regulatory factors it may actually mean you need a specific balance of these canabinoids for each individual to optimise the full desired effects.

Many drugs can have the opposite effects by the same amount of substance when given to different people

I call BS on the study to an extent... If I am freaking out from too much THC, I will take a vitamin B1 and a CBD gummy to pill the paranoia and eventually the entire buzz, reducing it to a manageable but much more comfortable experience.

I would like to see that study redone with reasonable levels of THC, like what would be ingested from taking a few puffs of cannabis that was 1-3% THC. That's representative of how people used to consume cannabis before these insanely high THC strains were developed. The cannabis was mostly grown outdoors, wasn't heavily manipulated, and had a more natural balance of cannabinoids. I think another missing component is the terpenes. People used to have to consumer a lot more cannabis to get a psychoactive effect, meaning they were also consuming a lot more terpenes, which are probably the source of a lot of the beneficial effects of cannabis. I just feel like this study is kind of like giving people a double shot of everclear and trying to extrapolate the effects of that to all alcoholic beverages in general. And obviously that study would have way different results if you just let the people sip on an IPA or glass of red wine. It's like they say, the only difference between poison and medicine is the dosage, and everything is a poison at high enough doses. Considering we've been as a species exposed to cannabis with THC around 1.5% for the last like 10k years, and then all of the sudden here we are with weed with THC levels 30% and higher, it's really no wonder things are going sideways. And yea I know, people have always had concentrates, but again, as the quantity of THC goes up, the quantity of CBD et al and terpenes goes up proportionately, and thus the ratio is maintained. I've personally had concentrates made from nearly non-psychoactive cannabis (i.e. cannabis with THC in the 1-3% range and CBD in the 30% range), and it is indeed a very different experience. It is psychoactive in the concentrate form, but it's very relaxing and there's no anxiety or racing heart. It's almost more of an opiate like feeling, but without the nasty opioid side effects. I had hydrocodone from a doctor once and the side effects were worse than the pain that it didn't really do a very good job of masking anyways.

What I learned about thc content is that it is just a factor. It was said that when the terpenes combined with thc is responsible for the high. When the aroma of the flower is intense like the common skunk aroma, that will land you a good high. I smoke low thc hemp called The White CBG. It has the lowest thc profile with only 1 thc anchor compared to others that have 2 or more. It has a good aroma. Though low in thc, next to 0%, it offers a pretty decent euphoric effect. In fact, I had a new strain of cbg hemp. called New London Gold. The aroma is on par with skunk, and it is exceptionally the best hemp I ever had. At one point, I thought they slipped me actually marijuana. It wasn't as when I took my home drug test, I passed. So don't be concerned with the thc content. You are looking for how they say the good, which is a flower that has a potent oder.

I found a strain that had over 50% CBD and 24% THCa; this gets me super baked without the overthinking.

Anyone who has smoked normal type 1 cannabis(high thc) and type 3 cannabis(high cbd, low thc <1%) knows its not "hype" with cbd. If you are too high from thc and want to relax it certainly helps to ingest cbd. There is a lot of terpens involed with your cannabis experience. "Its safe to say..", no its not safe to say. Anyone who has experience with type 1, type 2 and type 3 cannabis knows it matters a lot. More studies need to be done and it would be jumping to conclusions to suggest otherwise.

None of these edibles are recommended for people with stressful lives and mental health issues. The effects are too strong and cannot be stopped for hours. Stick to smoking a little bit few times a week to experience relaxing effects. Don’t do it every day or you’ll get dependent on it quickly

True it does but it also eliminates the psychosis and paranoia effects from thc

640mg is a 32:1 ratio. when people talk about THC/CBD strains, the ratio is 1:1

1 Study n=18 (also that would only make 6 who had the combo...) busts nothing. Its very interesting to see these results and should be further investigated maybe w 200 ppl... shouldnt be to hard to do. Also why no CBD control ??? that is an ESSENTIAL control for the assumption to be made.
