Enable root user for admin privileges on school computer

Показать описание
This tutorial is for macs. You'll need access to terminal. Your account does not need to have admin privileges for this to work. Now, every time you need the admin password to install, or change something, use:
username: root
password: (the password you created)

what to type in terminal if you can't watch or hear the video for whatever reason:
sudo passwd root

the spaces in between the words are important.
after that, it'll tell you to type in a password for it.
That's it.

I bought a used computer and you video helped me bypass the admin password and gain full use. Thank-you. Retired Public School Superintendent :-)

It told me my username was not a sudoers account and the incident would be reported.

guys, you have no need for a admin acc. if your trying to download something ( for ex: skype ) just don't drag it so your applications! just open it from your desktop. You can do that by: when it open the the folder that says .dmg --> applications just dubbel tap that skype icon. ( not the skype icon on your desktop), the one on the skype --> applications.

Sorry, try again.

All that means, is it's warning you that you can basically delete ANYTHING without any restrictions. You have to seriously try to get to the system files to even delete anything important. Honestly, most people just want the root/admin username and password to be able to install, delete files, and change systems settings. Don't worry about it.

There's an easier way to do this.
1. turn on your Mac and hold cmd + s on startup. The terminal should open.
2. type in the following:
1. mount -uw /
2. rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
3. reboot
3. you should now be able to create a new admin account.

Yes, you can do that. Use the admin account to enable root user and the password. Then on your regular account the school gave you without admin privelages, use the root user and password to delete the admin account you made so the teachers won't know what you did.

Im confused what you did with the two root passwords. When you typed it in the first time-- to change the energy saving options-- you used the root-user, but that password didnt work. How did you make that first root user account? Is it an alternate admin account that you said is in your next video?

I wanted to use this to run a simple driver for my drawing tablet at school. The only kid who was working the tech here graduated so i'm either screwed or homefree.

For a not so tech savvy parent this would be useful since they actually know their admin password and are possibly looking to discover their root key. However, I disagree this video being titled "for school macs" because if you've ever been handed a mac from a school, you're not given access to an admin user or root key which means I could have just called apple instead to retrieve my admin password to reset my mac instead. Then again this isn't the first false alarm video I've watched and it's 8 years ago when we had and currently have terrible administrators running the education

literally for no reason "changing password for root" when you hit enter. you obviously knew the password

so to get past the administrator lock you must know the password? isn't that why we are trying to get passed the administrator lock...cause we don't know the password

that was fake bro, at 2:00 why did changing password for root come up? you didn't put anything in to make it pop up it just did and won't happen on my computer and others by reading your comments

after you make the admin account, log into it and enable the root user while you're in this new admin account. then you can log out and back into your own account to delete the admin account using the root user. hope this helps on which videos you should watch :D

You have to have an admin account to enable it I think....So, you have to make an admin account so you can enable the root user, sign into the root user and delete the admin account, sign into your normal account and now you can use the root user and password for anything that requires the admin password

ack if you guys got the message that the incident will be reported, just email the teacher that gave you the mac that you have no idea what it was cause it randomly popped up on you screen. its what i did
